Job Summary:


Reports directly to the Financial Reporting Supervisor and interfaces with statutory auditors, direct tax and indirect tax consultants. Lead the audit team to fulfill the audit compliances for India, Gulf, Egypt and other African and European region entities. 


Major Responsibilities:


  • Performs complex and/or ad hoc tasks which may require decision making.
  • Provides guidance and assists the team in assigning work and addressing & resolving day to day operational issues. Researches, analyzes, and resolves various accounting/tax/ financial reporting issues collaboratively with Regional/Country Controllers, Project Accountants, FSMs and other stakeholders.
  • Assists in reviewing General Ledger transactions and provides support in reviewing moderate to complex month end and year end transactions and Journal Ledger closing procedure.
  • Prepares moderate to complex summary reports and/or financial statements.
  • Assists in reviewing moderate to complex standard financial reports (e.g. balance sheets, income statements, monthly closing reports) prepared by team according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in reviewing account reconciliations prepared by team and reconciles general ledger balances for assigned balancing segments which requires specific experience due to nature of account and complexity involved.
  • Ensures that monthly, supporting schedules are prepared in a timely manner and are reviewed for compliance with established procedures.
  • Initiates and completes corrective action to ensure that outstanding items in account reconciliations are cleared promptly.
  • Assists in reviewing assigned compliance activities performed by the team to ensure filing deadlines are met. At times prepare complex tax compliance reports and schedules.
  • Scrutinizes ledger transactions to ensure accuracy of tax compliance reports and schedules.
  • Assists in reviewing variety of recording and reporting documents and summaries to verify accuracy and conformance with specific functional, corporate, contract, government, or professional accounting requirements.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries into accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and documents business transactions.
  • Identifies training requirements and provide trainings as well as technical guidance to the team.
  • Reviews project journals in accordance with established Bechtel policies and procedures, client requirements, and applicable government regulations.
  • Supports Supervisor in leading and assigning work to the team.
  • As subject matter expert of sub-vertical, constantly identifies process improvement opportunities, and provides support in developing new solutions/process improvements and process documentation.
  • Consistently identifies and provides necessary process training and provides help to Supervisor in assessing the performance of the team.

Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and at 6-8 years of accounting experience. CA (Inter).
  • Chartered Accountant will be an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of financial reporting & financials.
  • Basic skills in the areas of oral and written communications, MS Office suite of applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Thorough knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Should possess knowledge of WHT, Service Tax and Corporate Tax. Good analytical skills. 

Required Knowledge and Skills:


  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have audit experience in a fairly large organization, in terms of interaction and co-ordination with the auditors for the finalization of statutory financials.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable accounting methods.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, conscientious, and function well in a team environment.
  • The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable and have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude and maintain composure under stress.
  • The ideal candidate must be 'self-starter' capable of working independently, taking initiative identifying and resolving issues, managing workload, and handling correspondence.
  • The ideal candidate must possess good organization skills, ability to provide constant attention to detail, and have ability to apply quality control over a heavy volume work with tight deadlines. Candidate is expected to maintain confidentiality of all information entrusted to the position.
