About Credit & Fraud Risk Finance

Credit & Fraud Risk (CFR) Finance team delivers fact-based, decision-driven and high-impact Net Loss Provision forecasts and credit-risk related insights and deep analytics. The key objective is to drive prudent financial decisions and support credit-risk strategies while ensuring adherence to governance and controls. This position will be part of a highly talented team with strong intellectual curiosity.

How will you make an impact in this role?

Role Description:

The team supports Global Finance teams, Risk Management, and Marketing teams on all aspects of CFR decision Support. Our key responsibilities include Evaluating strategic decisions, establishing Peer linkages and driving credit-related analytical insights to key stakeholders.  Our team is excited about solving business problems through data and insights. This analyst role will be supporting peer insight analytics through automated tools.

How will you make an impact in this role?

• Partner with Risk and Finance teams on cross-enterprise strategic initiatives by driving key analytics to inform business decisions
• Drive awareness of data / insights / market / portfolio trends across businesses and proactively identify opportunities for analysis
• Develop skills; mining and analyzing data to identify credit risk and collections opportunities across portfolios to enhance margins, either through revenue generation or expense reduction (primarily via SQL)
• Provide thought leadership on projects across the Global Risk Finance organization to help AXP meet its long-term growth targets
• Evaluate Risk projects that span multiple businesses and produce cost/benefit analysis to inform prior prioritization of investment dollars.

 Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience working on financial analytics using large amounts of data
• Advanced excel modeling skills and high level of proficiency in PowerPoint are required
• Proficiency in SQL, Hive/Yellow Brick required; Python preferred
• TM1, Tableau, Power BI or other visualization tools experience is strongly preferred
• BS/MS in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science
• Previous card/risk management experience and/or 1+ years of work experience preferred.

• Be data-driven, outcome-focused and fast learner
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail
• Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts
• Ability to solve ad-hoc business problems independently and manage multiple priorities and projects while adhering to deadlines
