Job Description

Key Responsibilities


  1. Develop and implement import and export strategies and procedures that align with company goals and comply with regulations


  2. Exim trade Compliance:


    1. Ensure compliance with all import-related regulations, including customs regulations, correctness of product classification declaration /tariff codes, duty payables and trade agreements


    2. Handle and respond appropriately to queries from CHA/ Customs/ Banks/ ADC for clearance of goods/ bulk formulations.


    3. Partner with Internal/ External Audits and facilitate process and transactions Audits


    4. Partner with the CHA and internal teams for handling queries from authorities with relevant responses.


    5. Lead compliant ways of working for all transactions and movement of goods- domestic and international.


    6. Monitor industry trends and changes in regulations that could impact import operations. Engage with various stakeholders to ensure these are implemented as per timeline.


  3. Cost Management


    1. Manage import-related costs, including customs duties, tariffs, and freight charges, to optimize the company's financial performance.


    2. Lead Annual budgeting.


    3. Responsible for managing allocated cost for the year; and share regular updates on related risks and opportunities


    4. Ensure Duty drawbacks, refund claims are processed in time, for company to realize related benefits in a timely manner.


    5. Collaborate with Procurement towards freight analysis, contracting and performance reviews of 3PL/ 4 PLs.


    6. Coordination and helping stakeholders for insurance claim if any


    7. Monitoring pilferage and breakages of goods and take action on prevention and vendor recoveries.


  1. Team Management:


    1. Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the import department, including customs clearance, transportation, and documentation for Import


    2. Manage and train a team of import managers and support them to ensure Timely delivery of imported goods by coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.


    3. Ensuring timely clearance, and delivery 


    4. Pre shipment validation – on appropriate flights, schedules, temp. instructions & other information on shipment documents.


  2. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including CHA, freight forwarders, and suppliers as well as internal stakeholders


  3. Lead improvement & digitalization initiatives as per roadmap - map requirements, set up clear expectations, agree on work plans and timelines with other stakeholders



Qualifications

Knowledge / Experience Required


  1. Bachelor's / Masters degree in business administration, international trade, logistics, or a related field.


  2. 10+ years of experience in import operations, including managing a team of import professionals


  3. Strong knowledge of customs regulations and procedures, including tariff codes, trade agreements, and customs clearance processes.


  4. Specific knowledge of Advance licenses, EPCG, Customs bonds, duty drawback schemes, brand rates, claiming import duty refunds is desirable


  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.


  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks in import operations.


  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


  8. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of import professionals.


  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
