Job Description: ETL and BI Reports Testing SpecialistOverview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented ETL + BI Reports Testing Specialist with expertise in ETL testing and data validation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and executing test plans, ensuring data accuracy, and collaborating with development teams to maintain high-quality data transformation processes.
Overall Responsibilities:
Test Planning and Execution:
- Design and execute comprehensive ETL test plans and test cases to validate data transformations.
- Ensure testing strategies align with project specifications and business requirements.
Data Validation:
- Validate and verify data accuracy and consistency across various systems and databases.
- Perform rigorous data validation and quality checks to confirm that transformation and loading processes are accurate.
Issue Identification and Reporting:
- Identify, document, and report defects and issues related to ETL processes, working closely with development teams to facilitate resolution.
- Provide timely updates and reports on findings to ensure stakeholders are informed of progress.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with development and data engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve ETL-related issues.
- Work alongside business analysts and stakeholders to ensure data transformation processes meet defined business requirements.
Documentation:
- Document test results, methodologies, and inspection outcomes.
- Create detailed reports summarizing test findings, providing actionable insights for ongoing improvements.
Technical Skills:
ETL Testing:
- Proven experience in ETL testing or related data testing roles, with a strong understanding of ETL processes.
ETL Tools Proficiency:
- Proficiency in various ETL tools and technologies (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Apache Nifi).
SQL Knowledge:
- Strong proficiency in SQL and data querying techniques for data validation and analysis.
Data Warehousing:
- Sound understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star and snowflake schemas.
Reporting Tools:
- Experience with BI/reporting tools such as SSRS, Cognos, or PowerBI for data visualization and reporting.
Big Data Experience (Desired):
- Familiarity with big data and unstructured data sources, particularly cloud platforms like AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift).
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in ETL testing or a related data testing position.
- Experience in the financial services industry is a plus, enabling an understanding of data governance and compliance.
Day-to-Day Activities:
- Develop and execute ETL test cases and scripts based on project requirements.
- Conduct data quality assessments and validation checks to ensure compliance with business requirements.
- Monitor ETL processes and assess their effectiveness and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve data-related discrepancies.
- Prepare and present detailed reports of testing outcomes, highlighting areas for improvement and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in ETL testing or data analysis are a plus.
