As a member of the MEIC team, you will collaborate with the broader Medical Devices engineering team, clinical and commercial teams globally. You will enable design & development of medical devices/products and the associated infrastructure & capability building elements in close conjunction with the Global teams.
• Manage a cross functional (ME, HW, Systems) engineering technical team
• Responsible for all areas of electro-mechanical development including motor drives, electric HW and FW interfaces.
• Work with engineers on critical issues, developing action plans and driving corrective actions
• Provide a blend of people management and technical savviness. Should have worked on development of products and on successful delivery of solutions.

Must Have
- Experience in distributed product development, team building skills, talent management, conflict resolution, budget management and global stakeholder management are critical to the role.
- Manage a cross functional (FW, HW, Systems) seasoned engineering technical team.
- Provide a blend of people management and technical savviness. Should have worked in matrix reporting structures with accountability on successful delivery of solutions.
- Deep understanding in product development processes & regulations (ex: ISO 13485, ISO 14971) and Design controls for medical device development in order to coach and guide the technical leads is expected.
- Identify the needs and prepare capabilities in the cross functional areas, SW/FW development, verification and validation, Systems Engineering, and Electrical Engineering areas to deliver full product lifecycle support to the business.
- Must have a deep understanding of business processes. Be able to establish metrics & support team in innovation and improvement opportunities.
- Research and maintain solution architecture, technical design, tools and technology stack and related system and drive proof of concept efforts at MEIC.
- Must be able to support the global team in organic, blended, inorganic product development projects.
- Support the technology road map of Medical Devices by proactively pitching for technology development.
- Develop future leaders by coaching, empowering, reviewing results, both in technical areas and in soft-skills.
Education and Experiance
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (CS, EE)
- Minimum of 15+ years of applicable work experience in a product development & Global team environment specific to Product development and Product Life cycle management.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading R&D function (Systems Engineering Preferred);
- Medical device and /or MNC experience would be a plus (working with cross –cultural team);
- Rich experience in product engineering including development & verification;
- Good hands on experience in systems engineering, software engineering, Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledgeable in design controls for medical devices (related to CFR 820.30), IEC standards such as 62304, 60601 & other relevant standards.
- Strong proven capability & track record in developing product applications and strong knowledge in device communication & diagnostics, database systems and latest communication protocols.
- Hands-on application development (right from requirement analysis to deployment) and management of sizeable teams in HW & SW application development & verification activities.
- Leading a team of engineers and technical experts
- Ensuring quality, compliance with regulatory requirements

- Managing budgets and resources, Maintaining industry knowledge & Collaborating with other departments

Principal Working Relationship
- Reports to the Sr Engineering Manager at MEIC and works closely with the Project Leaders, Project Managers and Engineering Managers working for the GBU.
- Key liaisons are R&D Business Leaders, PMO Leaders, Cross-functional Leaders, PDP Champions, Functional Managers, Core Team Members, Project Managers and BU Stake Holders.
- This incumbent may seek guidance on managing program issues and risks from the GBU R&D Sr Managers, Directors and cross functional stake holders (QA, RA, Marketing, Operations, Sales, & Clinical).
- Works closely with RA, QA and Documentation departments to establish proper regulatory and quality documentation procedures.
- Possible interaction with clinicians, third-party vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
