The Engineering Manager -Automation is responsible for will leverage their past experience to plan and conduct all levels of verification against our software products within an agile team of designers and developers. The candidate will use the provided test tools and agile processes to assist developers, ensure that the products work as expected and manage the tools, frameworks and verification environments.


This position reports to the Senior Engineering Manager and is part of the Software Department, Automation team located in Bangalore and will be an on-site role. 


In this role, you will have the opportunity to:


  • Lead a team of automation test engineers to ensure the highest product quality, organise the team and implement development processes to continually deliver on-time with high quality and that standard QA practices are adhered to.
  • Develop new and adapt existing Test Automation, Regression Testing strategies and assess the fit of available manual scripts to be used as a base for automation. Identify gaps and address them to make the automation worthy.
  • Work with geographically distributed teams while maintaining highest standards in collaboration and communication and readily accepts responsibility and accountability for project success and key decisions.
  • Identify right 3rd party software components/frameworks to be used in existing software automation systems and be comfortable with details and when required be hands-on to make sure the delivery expectations are met.
  • Provides overall people-care management for direct reports, including, hiring, setting, and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; Drives and fosters organization-wide performance standards, expectations, and practices to support ongoing team member and process development.
  • Engage with appropriate cross functional stakeholders at other SCIEX sites, technical leaders and executives to communicate projects status, bring up issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making

The essential requirements of the job include:


  • 13+ years of experience with full cycle application development (Full SDLC experience: architecture, design, development, delivery, etc.) and proven leadership in delivering high impact programs.
  • At least 3+ years of on Quality Assurance Management, preferably a thorough understanding of testing strategies, including automated, manual, and performance testing.
  • Familiar on Automation framework and should have worked on automated test case development.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals (knowledge on different Automation framework architecture) . Demonstrated experience in designing and developing reusable code frameworks, libraries, and components.
  • Continuous Integration and Automation testing experience. Ability to drive the hiring process and nurture/mentor others in the team.
  • A can-do attitude in anticipating and resolving problems to help your team to achieve its goals.
  • Excellent communication skills with direct team members as well as external teams and stakeholders.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:


  • Proven ability to make decisions, positively influence others, and work well in a fast-moving environment.
  • Interpersonal Skill: Team player who has a proven track record of working effectively in a cross-functional, matrix environment and with user groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact well with people at all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to learn new software and Experience in Agile and Scrum principles and ISTQB foundation certification or equivalent.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills, Comfortable with ambiguity
