Engineering Checker - Mechanical
As a drawing quality engineer, one will provide checking services by systematically reviewing the Drawing & Notice for completeness of information, accuracy, conformance to Engineering Standards, Material & process standards, Engineering specifications and Design guides.
The incumbent shall work towards creating an impact on Product quality through continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging information across caterpillar systems. The incumbent shall validate the Design output thoughtfully for build issues, Manufacturing, Field Failures and Warranty issues while strengthening Mechanical skills and mastery of Engineering Design concepts. The incumbent shall ensure that the drawings are future proof with respect to Design for Assembly, Manufacturing & Serviceability. He / She shall communicate effectively on the recommendations of the review process and collaborate with the Product Group Design Engineers for successful implementation of feasible solutions. The incumbent shall continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technologies while broadening the professional network.
Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to
Validate the detailed design for various sub subsystems such as Light, Heavy, Performance Structures, Hydraulics systems, Engine, Installation and Cooling systems. This position also requires performing checking activities for Complex type of parts such as Sheet Metal, Castings, Forging, Fabricated Structures, provide technical guidance and coaching to checking engineers and high level of collaboration with the Engineering team. It requires a strong focus towards design for excellence (DFX), Geometrical dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) and preventing parts proliferation. Provide technical expertise in the analysis, development, implementation of new and revised process The position is a specialist within the group and provides interpretation and problem-solving advice to others inside and outside of the department.
Required Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Aeronautical Engineering with 4+Years’ experience
Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to gain a mastery of Complex Engineering and manufacturability concepts. Must have good Mechanical Aptitude with ability to develop product concepts. Good understanding of product life cycle management, Engineering change management process. Knowledge on Product Design, Development, Assembly and Manufacturing Process. Requires strong leadership ability, possess good communication and analytical skills Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously without supervision and shall possess the ability of making sound decisions Hands on experience in Creo 7.0/ Teamcenter Vis Mock-up.
Desired Qualifications:
ASME (Y14.5-2018) GDTP Technologist Level or Senior Certified Professional
