Engineering Delivery Lead - Data Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Engineering Delivery Lead – Data Engineering to join our client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading data engineering teams, driving the data product roadmap, overseeing execution, and optimizing delivery processes. You will act as a bridge between engineering, product, and business teams, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, scalable, and efficient data solutions aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of data engineering projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, technical feasibility, and timely execution.
• Drive architectural decisions and implementation strategies for data pipelines, data platforms, and scalable data infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design, build, and optimize large-scale ETL pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses on cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Develop and maintain the data engineering roadmap, ensuring prioritization based on business needs, scalability, and performance improvements.
• Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions.
• Define and implement best practices for CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native deployments in the data engineering ecosystem.
• Lead and scale high-performing data engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and accountability.

Required Skills:

Technical Skills

• Expertise in ETL, data pipelines, and big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
• Strong SQL skills for querying and optimizing large datasets.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) and distributed data systems.
• Knowledge of DevOps for data (Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure automation).

Managerial Skills

• Proven experience in program/project management for large-scale data initiatives.
• Strong Agile & Scrum leadership, driving collaboration across multiple teams.
• Effective stakeholder management with technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to analyze business challenges and break them into structured, data-driven solutions.
• Experience in scaling teams, mentoring engineers, and optimizing workflows.

Qualifications:

• Education: BE/BTech/BS/MTech/MS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 11-14 years overall, with 7+ years in Data Engineering and Program/Project Management.
• Preferred Certifications: AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer, PMP, CSM.
