Job Title: Engineer – Design (Core Components)


Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


  • In this role, you will collaborate closely with Senior Engineers and Engineering Specialists to execute the design and development of core engine components, including rotating components, structures & cylinder packs and Lube / Cooling system components. Flexibility to work on multiple components is essential.  
  • Work with customers, Process partners, Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to understand and document the requirements.
  • Handle both new product introduction (NPI) and current product improvement (CPI) projects, implementing engineering solutions independently.
  • Independently manage engineering activities from concept to production in component/system development projects.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, purchasing during part development.
  • Manage multiple projects and communicate results (Achievement towards cost / quality / timeline targets) to customers, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams as required in various forums.
  • Perform design calculations, initiate ideas, support design failure model and effect analysis (DFMEA) and develop validation plan.
  • Create and manage project plan.

Education Requirement:


  • BE Mechanical engineering with 8 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (or)
  • ME / MTech Mechanical engineering (specialization in IC engines / Engineering Design / Thermal engineering) with 6 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (ideal candidate).

Skill Sets / Competencies (Must have):


  • Strong Product knowledge of Core engine systems.
  • Product knowledge of core engine components like 5C components, Bearings, Dampers, Gears, Major forgings and castings.
  • Experience in New Product Introduction (from Concept to Production) and expertise in Value analysis / Value engineering techniques.
  • Capability to design components that meet reliability & durability requirements and with manufacturing feasibility.
  • Knowledge of applicable simulation tools like Stress Analysis, Thermo Mechanical Fatigue (TMF) or Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) etc.
  • Ability to apply GD&T to meet functional requirements.
  • Knowledge on Data extraction, regression analysis and problem solving.
  • Excellent Project Management, verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills.

TOP CANDIDATES will have:


  • Advanced degree from a reputed institution.
  • Over 5 years of experience in Core engine component design and development, collaborating with global and regional teams.
  • Experience in working with regional suppliers for core engine component development.
  • Good knowledge of cross functional roles in domains such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, related to engines.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.


 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Delivers helpful feedback that focuses on behaviors without offending the recipient.

•    Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.
•    Avoids technical jargon when inappropriate.
