Job Description Summary:


What you need to know about the role:
This role is critical to understand, explore & expand the offerings of Activities platform powering the post purchase experiences within PayPal digital wallet. It requires thinking solutions which may span across components, platforms and external integrations. This role will require to build synergy with multiple PayPal internal teams, Partner, Merchant & Customer experiences, as well as PayPal external open banking solutions.

Meet our team:
At PayPal, its key to provide trust, transparency and clarity to our Merchants, Consumers & Partners about their every engagement with PayPal’s products and services. You’ll part of the “Financial Activities Platform Team” that enables our customers to manage their personal finances by providing a framework to track, locate and act on their payments & financial obligations. The charter for this team is to maximise the number of merchants and customers that remain actively engaged with PayPal following the creation of new payment or promise of payments via PayPal. We work round the clock to enhance, speed up and scale our services to enable customer retention and help our customers achieve their post purchase operations effectively. The initiatives under our portfolio are considered as Tier-1 and have a direct, measurable contribution to the post purchase experiences, refunds, customer call volumes, email communications globally leading up to trust and safety represented by the company. You will be working with a co-located end-to-end product ownership team from design to delivery and peers who have the drive to ideate, experiment & learn with a fail-fast approach.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with experience in designing and implementingplatforms for large scale financial services institutions.


The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong technology knowledge coupled with effectivecommunications skills to lead with influence and become a trusted advisor to ourtechnicalteams. You have the technical expertise to lead software solutions and architecture discussionsalong withguidingcross-functional product and engineering teams throughout the design, testing, and


production delivery cycle.


Business acumen, hands-on technology skills, positive work ethic, customer centric approach and acollaborative mind set are key to the success of this role.


Your day to day:


 1. Communication, Influence and Leadership:


Lead and align teams to functional and unit mission.


Guide and lead cross-functional teams with platform design principles.


Adaptive communications and approaches to influence others to drive alignment and adoption of new ideas & concepts.


2. Problem Solving:


Analyze complex scenarios, anticipate potential problems and future trends.


Assess threats, risks while balancing opportunities and impacts.


Research and design products and solutions.


3. Impact on the Business:


Socialize and advocate for new ideas and drive changes & adoption across Developer and Product teams.


Accountable for programs and initiatives, and influence across organisations.


Responsible for defining metrics to measure success and opportunities.


4. Competency Requirements:


Innovative and thought leadership, architectural mindset & comprehensive approach, implementation skills. Ability to define security, technical and business requirements with minimal direction.


Demonstrated ability to assess complex business problems, prioritize risks, and assess for solutions to eliminate and reduce threats in a systemic approach.


Strong orientation towards action and making recommendations based on data, and ability to align functional teams to recommendations.


Develop the business, information, and technical artefacts that constitute the enterprise security architecture, solutions and products.


What do you need to bring:
 


6+ years’ experience as technical leader (Java) at a large, global company in dynamic and fast-changing markets.


Deep subject matter expertise in platform development & maintenance


Experience with influencing large software engineering organizations.


Demonstrated experience in driving and implementing security technology and programs.


Excellent teaching, communication and interpersonal skills.
