The Role:
To capture Indian market trends and key compelling events that will lead to identify strategic focus areas, primary use cases, potential new customers, untapped markets, and white space opportunities. India’s private and government sector holds immense commercial potential, and this role presents a significant opportunity to create a substantial revenue impact for S&P Global Commodity Insights.
The incumbent will collaborate with the entire ecosystem of private, government and industry bodies to grow the business and support Commercial Team in achieving revenue targets for the region.
This role involves engaging with senior stakeholders to expand the company’s presence in the Government and Private sector domains, promote our brand, designing and deploying focused sales campaigns, advocacy, and senior stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will be a professional preferably with a background in the Oil & Gas industry, a user of Commodity Insights products or similar such products, someone who understands industry workflows, knows key stakeholders, and can open doors with influencers, decision-makers & C-Suite executives to drive business growth.
This position is pivotal in leveraging India’s market potential and establishing S&P Global Commodity Insights as a trusted partner in the Indian economy.

Development and execution of a coordinated outreach strategy and expanding the portfolio of customers in the energy and commodities businesses (upstream, midstream & downstream) value chain with support from the Commercial team.
Work with cross functional teams to ensure the company’s advocacy efforts are aligned with your outreach strategy. You will work with a cross-functional team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability. You will work closely with senior leadership and other departments to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives. You will provide regular updates to executive leadership on the status of market development, business development, and advocacy efforts. You will play a key role in shaping the company’s long-term strategy and ensuring its successful execution.
Your ability to think strategic, have a strong business acumen, and build lasting relationships to drive market and business growth will help to drive defined business objectives.
Engage with Government, Private & Public Sector Enterprises, Industry Associations to amplify advocacy efforts, drive industry-wide adoption by highlighting S&P Global Commodity Insights offerings.
You will collaborate with cross-functional and commercial teams to lead market expansion, revenue growth and industry influence, positioning the company as a leader in its field while fostering long-term partnerships and shaping policies that create a competitive advantage.

Driving the company’s growth and influence by leading initiatives across three critical areas; Market Development, Business Development, and Tactical & Strategic objectives.
You will spearhead efforts to identify and capitalize on new market opportunities, ensuring the company’s products, services, and solutions align with evolving customer needs and industry trends.
You will work closely with the Commercial Teams, deploy focused sales campaigns and be the driving force behind identifying and securing new business opportunities to fuel the company’s revenue growth.
You will research and evaluate potential partnerships, and alliances that align with the company’s strategic goals.
Your skills will help to build relationships with C-Suite levels at Union Ministries, Private Sector, and Industry Associations. You will establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry leaders.
You will work closely with the Commercial team and aid in negotiations to win strategic deals that drive usage, adoption and long-term revenue growth. We want to stay relevant to the markets we serve, transforming the business in line with tomorrow’s market needs is an important part of the mission.
Your role will also provide local leadership for Commodity Insights in India providing direction and advocacy. Market Research: Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and market dynamics to influence strategies. Outreach Activities: Coordinate outreach activities, including hosting events, one-on-one meetings, and other engagements to source valuable insights. Share insights with analytical and commercial teams to better decision-making.
The most important aspect of this role will be to help grow the business in India and build strong relationships in the marketplace
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for a high-performing and transformational individual to help us meet our revenue growth targets by focusing on putting the customer at the centre of everything we do, understanding customer needs and keeping our company competitive and innovative. This role will be a team player with the ability to work with global teams, play an essential role in the India Leadership Team, work with the team through change management, and drive to the table. Experience in and strong knowledge of the commodity, oil & gas, energy, power, or related industries is a must along with a proven record and ability to drive significant growth in India market by leading initiatives across three critical areas; Market Development, Business Development, and Tactical & Strategic objectives, and own. Experience or familiarity with SaaS/subscription businesses is a plus.
Basic Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in either Strategic Account Management, Consulting, Technology Sales, Corporate Strategy, Sales, Business Development, Advocacy, or related field; with 10+ years in Energy & Commodity markets leading initiatives across three critical areas; Market Development, Strategy, and Advocacy.
Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, engineering or equivalent. MBA is a benefit.
Candidates having worked within Oil & Gas and Chemicals & Petrochemicals sectors with proven track record of driving growth through market expansion, strategic partnerships, driving influence is an advantage. Have executed long-term strategies aligned with business goals.
Established network of contacts in NOC’s, government, ministries, industry associations, and regulatory bodies.
Strong organizational and time management skills, coupled with the ability to embrace change.
Strong creative problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
Solid planning and organization skills, able to prioritize. Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to close deals and influence outcomes.
Having proficiency in data analysis, market research, and structured problem-solving. Demonstrate strong analytical skills, structuring insights to support strategic initiatives. Advocate for policies and initiatives that align with the organization’s goals and mission.
Efficiently manage interactions with CXOs and senior stakeholders, showcasing excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Foster collaboration and build trust with clients, partners, and internal teams.
Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Deep understanding of the industry landscape, including trends, workflows, regulations, and competitive dynamics. Added advantage if you have been a user of Platts Connect and similar such products.
Contribute to the development of priorities and understanding of market trends that indicate opportunities. Collaborate across S&P Global as part of the Enterprise Value Strategy.
Familiarity with government policies ®ulations and their impact on business dynamics.
30-50% travel required and ability to adjust to other time zones.
Familiarity with S&P Global or similar organizations in the financial, commodity, or data analytics sectors.
