As the Director of AI Governance & Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the AI governance framework for our organization. You will support both accelerating the business value from leveraging AI and ensuring that our AI systems are developed and deployed ethically, responsibly, and in compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices. This is a critical role that will directly impact the business value, trust and transparency of our AI-driven products and services. The successful candidate will use their skills, influence, and experience to establish and lead high performing cross-functional teams, engage stakeholders and implement effective frameworks for the delivery of strategies and systems aligned to the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
Accelerate AI Adoption:
Support the organization in accelerating the adoption of AI technologies. ● Assess the feasibility and viability of implementing AI solutions across different business functions.
Support activities of AI engineers who will be responsible for the development and deployment of AI systems.
Support and Evaluation of AI Use Cases:
Provide guidance and support to business units in identifying and evaluating potential AI use cases.
Support the assessment of the alignment of proposed AI initiatives with business objectives and strategic priorities.
Support the evaluation of the potential benefits and risks of AI use cases, including ethical considerations and societal impact.
Collaboration and Training:
Develop and deliver training programs on AI governance and ethical AI practices for employees.
Collaborate with various teams, including data science, engineering, product development, and legal, to integrate AI governance principles into their workflows.
Develop and Implement AI Governance Framework:
Implement the comprehensive AI governance framework that encompasses ethical considerations, risk management, and compliance requirements.
Establish clear policies, procedures, and standards for the development, deployment, and monitoring of AI systems and use cases.
Create and maintain documentation related to AI governance, including policies, guidelines, and risk assessments.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Establish metrics and processes to monitor the effectiveness of the AI governance framework.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in AI governance. Ensure Ethical AI Practices:
Promote the ethical development and use of AI across the organization.
Identify and mitigate potential biases, discriminatory outcomes, and other ethical risks associated with AI systems.
Stay abreast of the latest ethical guidelines and best practices in the field of AI governance.
Oversee Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), AI-specific regulations, and industry standards, in collaboration with Nielsen Legal and Privacy.
Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape and adapt the AI governance framework accordingly.
Promote Transparency and Explainability:
Develop mechanisms to ensure transparency and explainability in AI systems.
Implement processes for documenting and communicating the decision-making processes of AI models.
Foster trust and understanding of AI technologies among stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
This role is applicable across various industries, but experience in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare) is a plus.
Fluency in English and local language mandatory
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
High levels of energy, conscientiousness, rapport building, resiliency, inventiveness, and curiosity.
Strong understanding of ethical considerations and societal impact of AI.

Expertise in managing organizational change related to technology adoption and implementing change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions.
Effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders at all levels, balancing competing priorities and managing expectations.
Experience with data & analytics governance tools and technologies.
Ideally, 10+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field.
Ideally, a proven track record of successfully implementing and leading data & analytics governance programs.
Ability to evaluate and manage relationships with technology vendors, including understanding contractual terms, service-level agreements (SLAs), and negotiation skills.
