Job Purpose


Digital Fuel is focused on bringing data and customer experiences to life. The Market Research and Business Performance Director is a key member of the Brand Strategy and Customer Experience Leadership Team, leading the development and execution of comprehensive market research strategies to support the company's global business objectives. The role will leverage the latest advances in digital and technology to deliver insights faster, more efficiently and more effectively, working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders. The role will also be accountable for establishing a business performance framework aligned to the Brand Strategy and Customer Experience Team’s goals and objectives, demonstrating undisputable global-to-local business outcomes across the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring a unique blend of market research and digital, data and analytics experience. They will bring a strong sense of creativity, strategic thinking and leadership in their field. They will be an agitator for change and comfortable with new technology such as generative AI. They will be a key Digital Leader and influencer across the Enterprise, helping the business reimagine how to derive deep insights that enable impact at scale.


This role will report directly to the Senior Director, Brand Strategy and Customer Experience within the Digital Fuel organisation.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement global market research strategies to support business objectives and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial, medical, sales, product development, safety, compliance and finance, to ensure alignment of market research activities with business goals.
  • Global accountable lead for GSK Market Research standard operating procedures and risk mitigation practices, including the oversight of PIMs system and governance.
  • Manage relationships with global external primary market research vendors and secondary data suppliers to ensure high-quality, timely and cost-effective research solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external regulations and ethical standards in the conduct of market research activities.
  • Design and oversee the execution of qualitative and quantitative research studies, including surveys, focus groups and competitive analysis
  • Analyze and interpret market research data to provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Monitor and evaluate market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Develop and implement business performance strategies aligned to the Brand Strategy and Business Performance Team’s goals and objectives
  • Lead the delivery of comprehensive performance analysis that provide actionable insights to the immediate team and wider global/local stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with wider Digital Fuel and Commercial Tech colleagues to influence and align to enterprise-wide measurement frameworks, KPIs and standards.
  • Monitor and report on the team’s key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize the team’s data reporting efficiency and effectiveness, resolving issues on behalf of the team
  • Act as Insights SME within the ‘Brand Strategy & Customer Experience Team’, serving as key business partner to GPS and LOC teams where relevant

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Total 18+ years of experience out of which minimum of 10 years of experience in market research, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in a senior business performance or strategic planning role within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey research and analytical findings to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in market research tools and software, such as SPSS, SAS, GSK PIMs system etc
  • Knowledge of global market trends and cultural differences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong networks of internal and external experts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Additional Qualifications


  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing and social media analytics.
  • Advanced statistical analysis skills.
  • Experience leveraging AI/generative AI for research and analytical purposes
  • Good knowledge of industry codes, regulations & GDPR
  • Experience managing third parties such as agency and media buying
  • Able to produce high quality creative solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative problem solving and analytical thinking
