We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Director Fund Services Operations.


Principal responsibilities

  • Experience and knowledge of fund services products and services to include fund administration and transfer agency

  • Securities services Business 
  • Market & Securities services Operations Management Team
  • Internal and external Auditors, Regulators and Compliance
  • Institutional Clients, Fund Managers, Asset Owners
  • Trustee.

  • Ability to manage diverse and virtual teams across multiple locations

Operational Effectiveness & Control


  • Ability to identify and enhance sub optimal areas of process, control and cost.
  • Ability to define appropriate solutions and change to drive through process efficiency improvements and standardisation, strengthen cost base or meet business requirements.
  • Ability to assess impact to operations in adoption of new guidelines/market changes and create robust solutions that minimise impact towards operations teams.
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst managing the business as usual environment and driving the change momentum 
  • Ability to identify areas/functions/tasks where additional controls can be implemented to improve operational risk and efficiency

Major Challenges


  • Ability to maintain consistent high standard BAU service delivery operations.
  • Remote management of operational teams located in multiple sites  .
  • Balance conflicting internal and external stakeholders and priorities from client, regulator, compliance, product and change
  • Navigate and remediate through and around legacy services and activities.

Role Context


  • Guidance is from the Securities services Head of Operations and Functional Head of Fund Administration Operations, the role will require incumbent to operate in autonomous way to drive agreement across multiple countries with authority to execute in order to deliver against strategic goals. The role will require extensive operational management expertise, through a   complex environment and will require ability to navigate effectively through multiple stakeholders to achieve optimal solutions.
  • The role will require incumbent to effectively develop and maintain network of key stakeholders across Securities services business and be required to work cooperatively across local, regional and global functions, to manage through conflicting priorities. 

Management of Risk


  • Continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology.
  • Awareness of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

Observation of Internal Controls


  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
  • Ensure compliance with GSM, FIM and BIM’s
