Job Title: Director - Enterprise Head of (ECS) ArchitectureCareer Level - GIntroduction to roleThe Enterprise Head of Enterprise Capabilities & Solutions (ECS) Architecture is responsible for the architecture across the ECS landscape, collaborating with other Heads of Architecture to support AstraZeneca's business and IT strategies. This role involves crafting AZ standards, patterns, and roadmaps, ensuring ECS architectures conform to them. The role partners with key business teams, IT Leadership, and other Heads of Architecture to develop AstraZeneca’s Digital and Architectural landscape, aligned with business strategies and visions. Additionally, the role is responsible for key architecture processes such as standards and lifecycle management, drives change across EA, and addresses industry trends in defining AZ’s vision. The role also acts as a sponsor or steering group member for multi-functional or enterprise-wide projects.AccountabilitiesProvide Enterprise Design thinking and support to ECS across the Enterprise, application, and infrastructure domains of architecture.Define the architecture strategy, direction, and standards pertinent to the ECS Segment.Lead the development and execution of Data & Analytics specific architecture capability and strategy.Handle performance and development of a team of Architects across various technology domains to deliver end-to-end architecture solutions.Define architecture strategy and principles, policies, and standards to produce function-specific reference architectures and solutions.Manage relationships with Data & Analytics leadership to influence adoption of enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and policies.Drive the development of global enterprise standards for the central Architecture & Technology Strategy function.Analyze business data and AI priorities & strategies and translate these into architecture requirements for the enterprise.Act as an authority to the architecture community and the business regarding strategic architecture decisions for ECS.Refine architecture strategies, direction, standards, and patterns as required.Lead the development of Architecture Roadmaps and Blueprints (1-5 Year horizon).Ensure continuous alignment of capabilities with current business priorities and objectives.Chip in to multi-functional decision-making bodies.Act as a sign-off authority for solution and segment architectures as well as architecture blueprints and roadmaps.Champion ECS EA initiatives across IT (and business).Engage and build a network with external architecture authorities to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in ECS.Act as a strategic architectural advisor for senior IT and Business management.Ensure ECS Architectures align with Global strategies and solutions.Analyze IT industry and market trends to resolve potential impact on the enterprise.Establish partnerships with key ECS technology suppliers.Provide thought leadership and sophisticated technical expertise for enterprise ECS architecture across IT.Drive the continuous development of the Architecture Capability within IT by championing standard process sharing.Partner closely with ECS service/engineering teams in refining architecture patterns, designs, and blueprints.Focus on cost reductions (efficiency).Drive adoption of new technology against the Architecture strategy roadmap (adoption would be the important metric).Manage vendor relationships.Ensure regulatory compliance.Foster team engagement.Essential Skills/ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Data Management related fieldExtensive experience and knowledge of ECS solutionsAbility to influence and deliver strategic vision, direction, and planningBlend of data architecture, analysis, and engineering skillsExperience in known industry architectural patternsUnderstanding cloud-based containerization strategies for hybrid cloud environmentsKnowledge of appropriate data structure and technology based on business use caseExperience in using data modeling technologiesDesirable Skills/ExperiencePost-graduate degree in MIS, Data ManagementExtensive experience in a data architect role with practical examples of designing and providing data engineering blueprints that have been pragmatically implementedExperience in Agile data definition scrumsExperience using metadata cataloguing toolsKnowledge of Cloud Economics and ForecastingWhen we put unexpected teams in the same room, we spark ambitious thinking with the power to encourage life-changing medicines.
