Overview
Mastercard’s focused approach to engaging with public sector/government agencies aims at building durable partnerships while developing new revenue opportunities, making Mastercard a strategic partner to Governments.
The role will develop the Public Sector/Government segment as a customer segment for Mastercard capabilities and solutions. Customers will include central and state governments and their agencies, including tourism boards, cyber security agencies, transit authorities, Govt utilities, state corporations, etc. The incumbent will develop and execute an engagement strategy to establish Mastercard as a thought leader and trusted partner, generate new sales, capture new flows on cards, maximize value of each relationship, drive recurrent revenue and platform solutions.
Build relevance for Mastercard with government entities and position Mastercard as a though leader and trusted partner with them.
Leverage understanding of the government’s socio-economic priorities and agenda to create and offer them relevant solutions and services from across the Mastercard stable.
Take a lead role in winning major Mastercard deal bids and cross-selling Mastercard value-added services in areas like Cyber Security, Authentication services, Data & Services, etc.
Develop a business pipeline and convert opportunities into strategic engagements.
Build peer relationships and become a trusted Advisor with senior/executive level government institutions in the market.
Partner with the cross functional teams of Mastercard to support the markets strategic imperatives and execute against same.
The position reports to the COO, South Asia or his assigns.

You can quickly generate a deep understanding of the Government and Public Sector needs. You learn fast the suite of Mastercard capabilities and value propositions for Government and Public Sector. You use a thoughtful approach to building and executing appropriate go to market strategies and sales successes. In addition, your profile includes:
Proven experience and results in Business development in the Government sector. You should have generated sales and revenue of meaningful scale from government entities.
Have a strong network in the Central Government, State Govt/Public Sector in India (outside of PSU banks).
Superior understanding of protocols, procurement procedures and business processes involved in sales to government entities.
Strong commercial drive with ability to build and monetize senior client relationships based on empathy, thought leadership and subject matter expertise.
Strong business development and sales background with focus on driving long-term client relationships within the government sector, preferably consulting background with public sector engagements.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluent in English and at least two regional languages.
