The Role: Director, Private Markets 


The Team: This leadership position will be a part of S&P Global’s Enterprise Data Organization’s (EDO) Capital Markets data operations team. The purpose of this team is to generate gold standard unique market-leading data & analytics to advance private market offerings across all alternate asset classes, helping provide the market with greater insights and transparency. Given that shift, we are looking for a world-class Director for our operational capabilities to stabilize the core team and drive the businesses growth to its full potential over the next phase.  


Impact: 


This is a highly visible role within S&P and will
involve close daily collaboration across multiple data groups, product management teams, other strategic groups within S&P’s EDO, as well as external partners. The successful candidate will have a start-up mindset and approach, experience in quantitative research/analytics and in operationalizing data businesses. They will have a proven track record of leadership and management and will be adaptable to respond to new opportunities while owning and scaling the operational side of the business. This strategic role will own all aspects of private markets operational capabilities including talent management, recruiting, quality assurance processes and standards, operations, and support and maintenance to ensure the highest levels of quality, scalability, performance, maintainability, and service reliability.  


Responsibilities:  


  • Exerts strong positive influence over professional development of team managers and members 
  • Meeting all critical timelines & requirements on BAU workflows/KPIs & projects, Problem solving at all levels. 
  • Provides day-to-day mentoring on work-planning and other specialized tools & skill sets (as relevant for data business) to team members; coaches effectively, which is visible in the performance of team members 
  • Lead and implement Data Quality projects based on evolving business prioritization and commercial landscapes. 
  • Develop data-driven strategies, balancing the best of technical and product knowledge, and work with the multiple teams to craft best in class capital markets solutions.  
  • Developing technical acumen within group for future growth. 
  • Executing short-term to long term projects from resource planning to execution in partnership with Data Management team. 
  • Stakeholder management - Driving meaningful conversations with the Leadership team and stakeholders based out of different locations. 
  • Mastering the culture of Innovation - understanding the process and workflow to the extent that ideas are generated around eliminating gaps in content and establishing best practices. Driving a lean mindset & ability to gain operational efficiency. 
  • Constructively engages in mutual feedback process with supervisor, product managers and direct reports; provides concrete, regular and actionable feedback 
  • Leads with maturity and inspiration; perceived as a fair and unbiased role model; motivates team members in the group through leadership by example 
  • As people leader be an ambassador of organizational values, culture, and strategy. 

What We are Looking For:  


  • Understanding of the mechanics of the Capital Markets domain, ability to quantify trends impacting the industry, and ability to provide analysis that can shape commercial decisions. 
  • Prior leadership experience in financial data services, with a focus on people management, experience in the private equity/alternative assets industry will be an added advantage. 
  • Proven operational management skills with attention to detail within a respected data company. 
  • Experience introducing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators and performance metrics. 
  • Capacity to give and accept feedback constructively and provide coaching to the team. 
  • Flexibility to work across various shifts including night shift on rotational or need basis. 
  • Maintains high ethical standards both personally and professionally, to maintain transparency in the team. 
  • Proven ability to work with minimal direction, maintain focus while working with routine tasks. 
  • The position would require working in rotational/night shifts on need basis.

Basic Required Qualifications: 


  • 12+ Years of experience in financial data services with at least 5 years in a leadership role driving transformation or innovation. 
  • Experience in building trust with business leads to develop long lasting business relationships. 
  • Comfort with a high degree of autonomy and in managing priorities from multiple internal and external stakeholders. 
  • The demonstrated ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities, simultaneously addressing the urgency of immediate demands with long-term projects, with a track record of successfully juggling multiple projects or tasks simultaneously. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling with data. 


Additional Preferred Qualifications: 


  • PowerBI or similar BI tools such as Tableau 
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree  
  • Basic technology knowledge of SQL and Gen AI is desirable. 
  • Understanding of the Market Intelligence division is preferred.
