About the Team
As part of our team, you will support the copyedit management process of academic journals whilst collaborating with other teams. You will be a member of a collaborative and inclusive team that encourages autonomy and personal development, whilst working together to achieve our department objectives and key results. About the Role
This role will require you to work in collaboration with the Copyedit Managers (CEM) and other teams across the organization and providing support to CEMs with optimizing and implementing best practice copyedit workflows.
Responsibilities
Ensuring articles are processed in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining a high standard of quality in collaboration with copyedit managers.
Ensuring appropriate upstream feedback mechanisms have been followed and take ownership of ensuring feedback and escalations are handled appropriately with third-party suppliers and freelance copyeditors
Providing support on copyedit workflows and changes that will strategically benefit journals and portfolios; enable focused discussion and more informed decision-making among internal and external contacts
Supporting CEM to increase copyediting knowledge and skills base of Journal Managers and Publishers. Support CEM to promote awareness and dissemination of key copyediting knowledge
Developing copyediting expertise and support innovation and initiatives in collaboration with the wider Journal Ops team, STM Journals and other project groups
Creating, refining and maintaining journal-specific copyediting style guides as required
Delivering assigned copyediting project tasks including copyediting quality control.
Requirements
Have minimum 5 years of copyediting experience including copyediting quality checking.
Have great organizational and prioritizing skills and be able to provide timely and consistent support to teams
Have excellent coordination and time management skills
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate an eye for detail
Holds a graduate degree
Have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel, Word and the ability to learn new systems
