Job Description:
Demand Planner
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the S&OP process for Demand – Supply alignment with all stakeholders of assigned divisions
- Review statistical demand forecast, understand the internal & external drivers of sales of commodities assigned and use that to improve the quality of demand forecasting
- Engage with business leaders to create positive overrides on the demand forecast and finalize the consensus marketing demand forecast (qualitative demand forecast)
- Continuous engagement with the business teams to pick up possible demand fluctuations early and ensure seamless information flow into the supply planning and fulfillment teams to help bridge demand-supply gaps
- Continuous engagement with support teams for product availability
- Portfolio management – assess product lifecycle and ensure optimization of SKU portfolio
- Track actual sales during the month and generate intelligence around deviations Vs. final forecast to improve the future statistical forecasts
- Drive reduction in non-working inventory or excess inventory through pro-active demand corrections, information flow and effective liquidation push with Sales & other support functions
- Ensure relevant data integrity in line with corporate guidelines and policies
- Drive process & capability improvement in the Demand Planning function locally and implement the relevant global best practices working with the international supply chain organization.
- Review Customer Back Orders and liaison with various functions for Back order reduction.
- Support any productivity improvement projects or ERP implementation activities.

- S&OP process adherence and timelines
- Final Forecast Accuracy % absolute & Bias improvement
- Good over-rides > Bad over-rides
- Non-Working Inventory %
- Adherence to key program implementation timelines
- SKU rationalization – target vs actual
Key Skills, Competencies & Experience:
- MBA in Operations/ Systems from a premier business school preferably with a prior engineering degree OR Masters in statistics/ related field.
- 3-6 years of professional work experience in supply/ inventory planning OR demand planning OR sales analytics function. Prior experience in leading a small/ medium sized team preferable.
- Keen follower of the evolving practices in the Supply Chain planning area & statistical business modeling
- Candidates with APICS certification will be given preference
- High Level skill in managing advance / complex excel / access databases and applications
- SAP knowledge is preferred.
