As a Data Scientist on the Globalization team, you will build scalable search and Generative AI algorithms fueled by machine learning, natural language processing and data-driven processes. You will collaborate with other Data Scientists, Product Managers and engineers to improve Udemy’s search product. We have an exciting road map ahead of us and this is a unique opportunity to build robust and powerful search systems at scale.
You will develop innovative approaches to build data products, implement fast prototypes and production-grade data pipelines to power ML/GenAI based data products.
You will build offline evaluation strategies and curate datasets to benchmark multi-lingual use-cases.
You will maintain and monitor complex data pipelines.
You will form product hypotheses, implement metrics and design A/B experiments to quantitatively measure product success.
You will stay at the cutting edge of advancements in data science, NLP, LLMs, machine learning, and prompt engineering.
Knowledge of machine learning, and natural language processing, with hands-on experience in a variety of fundamental methods like regression, classification, clustering using libraries like scikit-learn, LightGBM etc.
A solid understanding of analytics, statistics, and probability. This includes familiarity with statistical tests, distributions, and data analysis techniques and effectively interpreting and communicating statistical information.
Proficiency with SQL and 1+ programming languages (e.g. Python).
Solid understanding of LLMs and its capabilities. Knowledge of prompting techniques, prompt-tuning, model fine-tuning and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).
2+ years of full or part-time experience with machine learning, data science or equivalent.
Experience with information retrieval tools such as Elasticsearch or Solr.
Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, HuggingFace).
Experience with vector search libraries or databases.
Experience with big data storage and processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
Experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is advantageous.
Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI.
