As a Content Design Manager, you’ll guide, inspire, and move both teams and initiatives through clear, precise, and human language across all content touchpoints in our design and make experience. You’ll make the biggest impact in API and SDK spaces by helping to drive the delivery of documentation sets including snippets, sample code, tutorials, API reference, and developer documentation. You'll provide the tools, processes, and structure to a team responsible for changing the way design is accomplished—with automated workflows and collaboration across company and industry boundaries.

Success in this role requires a sound understanding of API development concepts and experience design strategy, project and program management, creative and systems thinking, along with an ability to incorporate feedback from stakeholders, integrators, and customer research with a lens on business impact. We’re looking for someone who can champion the Autodesk platform vision through compelling storytelling, someone whose people skills complement their technical skills, and who’s passionate about bringing human voices in crafting world-class API experiences. This is a hybrid/remote role with preference for candidates in Pune, India.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coach team members through demonstrable depth and breadth of your skills and capabilities in content design, technical communication, and people leadership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across product, engineering, design, and architecture in reviewing work across all phases of the API release process to accomplish project and customer goals.
• Identify outcome-based projects and swiftly determine resourcing needs required to meet shifting schedules and goals.
• Provide guidance to ensure that the craft meets the quality standards and drives measurable impact to customers.
• Build understanding between teams, while eliminating cognitive overhead, and get to the bottom of issues quickly.
• Develop content and doc tooling recommendations based on industry trends.
• Use storytelling to elevate the impact of your team across design and product disciplines.
• Intentionally craft moments that allow teams to pause, tinker, and connect to balance well-being and innovation.
• Cultivate and foster an environment of creativity and excellence to help us build a world-class content design team.

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of industry experience
• 5+ years of experience designing and shipping API experiences
• 3+ years of experience managing a content design or technical writing team
• Experience communicating content design and technical documentation topics to an internal and external audience
• A history of measuring and delivering the impact of products and platforms on production environments
• Technical ability to engage with development tools (i.e., Git, VS Code, Postman, Stoplight, Swagger)
• A degree in English, computer science, or human-computer interaction paired with commensurate work experience in technical documentation.
• Skills in design thinking and design software (Figma and Mural) a plus

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location.
