As an Intraday Payments Risk -Vice President within the Commercial and Investment Bank(CIB) Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) organization, you will be responsible for daily monitoring and real-time credit decisions of intraday payments. Your decisions will be based on a variety of factors including client's credit characteristics, our portfolio of business with the firm, and the complexity of payment products/arrangements.
The team charter is Daily monitoring and real-time Credit Decisions (Approval/Rejection/Escalation) of Intraday payments. Credit decisions will based on amongst other things using knowledge of clients credit characteristics (risk grading, structure of intra-day facilities), portfolio of business with the firm, complexity of payment products/arrangements.
Job responsibilities:
- Applying the same principals the daily review and approval of Overnight overdrafts using Credit authority while operating within the overnight overdraft framework for independent risk management. Effectively executing sound risk management decisions within credit authority levels and within the firm’s policy and procedures.
- Advising Credit Officers and the Business for large and/or complex intraday situations. Learn client behaviors in relation to underlying business activity to identify abnormal behavior and proactively prepare for events based on market activity or upcoming events. Monitor daily and make real-time Credit Decisions (Approval/Rejection/Escalation) of Intraday payments. (Approval/Rejection/Escalation) of Intraday payments. Credit decisions will based on amongst other things using knowledge of clients credit characteristics (risk grading, structure of intra-day facilities), portfolio of business with the firm, complexity of payment products/arrangements, historical patterns and using general credit acumen.
- Applying the same principals the daily review and approval of Overnight overdrafts using Credit authority while operating within the overnight overdraft framework for independent risk management. Effectively executing sound risk management decisions within credit authority levels and within the firm’s policy and procedures and advising Credit Officers and the Business for large and/or complex intraday situations. Learn client behaviors in relation to underlying business activity to identify abnormal behavior and proactively prepare for events based on market activity or upcoming events.
- Participate in client, event and country crisis management risk mitigation actions including first line of contact with the Payments Command Center. Individual and broader team will participate in Rapid Exposure Drills (RED) with Credit and Relationship Managers and develop strong working relationships with Sales, Client Service, Operations, Risk Stripes and functional partners (finance) as needed. Daily interaction with many of these teams and able to negotiate and determine when to be flexible, hold the line or escalate as needed. Individual will need to work with senior team leads to make decisions balancing the best interests of the firm and clients, to maximize beneficial outcomes and become a Subject Matter Expert for WCR on the payments Lines of Business, product offerings, payments flows and systems. Develop a working knowledge of how products help clients achieve their goals while at time creating Risk for the firm that needs to be monitored, controlled and reported. Provide guidance and recommendations during annual client reviews on Cash Product credit facilities sizing.
- Assist in developing policy and procedure to drive governance, awareness and control across Credit Risk with regards to Payments. Continually challenge and improve Risk reports and views and own executing against daily deliverables and own and contribute to medium/long-term projects. Opportunities to run and participate in committees, working groups and help drive the technology agenda.
- Support the Payments CRO as needed.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Able to work autonomously and be self-driven, while working in a time sensitive environment, capable of using data and critical thinking to make real-time decisions. Ability to make decisions and defend actions executing against daily tasks and time based deadlines.
- Strong communication, organizational and time management skills are critical for this role, including performing data analysis and translating messages into higher level presentations for broader often senior audiences.
- Use qualitative and quantitative knowledge of Credit Risk management (policy and some level of technical knowledge), to identify key information and drivers across complex businesses and products.
- Ability to review regulation versus existing policy and procedure, in order to assess impact to Credit Risk, and to translate any short comings into actionable deliverables.
- Ability and desire to develop understanding of various lines of business, including learning and helping to develop advances in technology platforms. Connecting the pieces and foster productive relationships across the lines of business, in a large matrix organization.
- Strong control mind-set, demonstrable partnership skills.
