As a Client Tax Associate within our dynamic Tax Operations team, you will be responsible for executing key business objectives and managing business risks for our key client/partner relationships across the Corporate & Investment Bank. You will prepare and review tax reclaim forms, liaise with sub-custodians, and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. This role provides an opportunity to learn new types of tax laws, understand changes in tax laws and their implications, and build strong working relationships with cross-functional/geographical teams. Your ability to promote results through a hands-on approach, maintain high standards of risk and control, and work collaboratively will be key to your success in this role.
Job responsibilities
- Ensure accuracy and timely completion of the Tax Reclaim filing process on behalf of the clients, within the stipulated window. Act as the escalation point for the local team members.
- Ensure a strong and stable operational environment with robust controls, checks, and balances. Update and present key metric information to management. Ensure a client-centric approach is core across the team. Ensure the organization is always compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure a clear, regular, and consistent communication plan across the team.
- Maintain good knowledge of end-to-end process flow, SOPs, and validation points. Possess good industry knowledge of International Tax reclaims processing.
- Influence technology on system enhancements and articulate stakeholders on various change management initiatives.
- Develop and implement tools to manage and improve quality and accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for process efficiency and implement them in a controlled manner.
- Undertake the day-to-day operations within the team, acting as the point of contact for the aligned country or line of business, ensuring tax compliance obligations are met, control procedures are adhered to, and internal stakeholders are regularly communicated with.
- Assist with training documents and training staff on new and revised processes. Implement a control function platform, maintain procedure documents, and help drive a control-centric environment.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Graduate or Post-Graduate with at least 5 years’ experience in operations.
- Minimum experience of 3 years as a Chartered Accountant or equivalent degree.
- Familiarity with a Taxation and Tax Operations for various Markets.
- Ability to drive results through a "hands-on" approach.
- Enthusiastic and articulate with excellent communication and written skills with clear, concise & logical documentation ability.
- Must be able to maintain and operate in an environment of high standards of risk and control.
- Detail oriented and ability to work in a dynamic environment with conflicting priorities.
- Strong analytical skills to review evolving market practices, assess oversight metrics, results identify trends.
- Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, with sound networking and influencing skills.
- Team player with ability to work with colleagues in a collaborative manner, as well as being able to proactively progress multiple tasks independently.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Relevant Tax market knowledge or industry experience
- Knowledge of financial markets and banking preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Alteryx, Tableau and UI path (preferred)
