Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst (Business Data Specialist) to join our team who will have the opportunity to champion our Caterpillar Informational Technology team. The role of the Finance Data Specialist is to serve as a bridge between finance and data platform team, focusing on the analysis, interpretation, and management of financial data. This includes ensuring data quality, overseeing metadata, and curating content on the financial data platform.

The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield Office, Bangalore, India

  What you will do

• Act as a pivotal liaison between business users and the data technology team, delivering data curation strategies and supporting the development team with data curation designs.
• Facilitate communication between product management and the development team to translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Analyze financial business processes to identify and develop use cases that solve business challenges.
• Collaborate as a vital member of a cross-functional team dedicated to evaluating, testing, and deploying automated solutions for financial data.
• Craft comprehensive process design documentation in partnership with Finance process owners and IT experts, laying the groundwork for automation feasibility, scope definition, and detailed solution architecture.
• Execute all essential data-related functions, including data design, data integrity, metadata oversight, data governance, and data architecture.
• Enhance the finance data platform by improving data quality, leveraging financial expertise, and understanding the data flow within Caterpillar’s financial systems.
• Collaborate with system subject matter experts (SMEs) to pinpoint necessary datasets for solution development.
• Investigate emerging technologies to boost data quality and devise innovative solutions.
• Contribute to the establishment of policies, procedures, standards, and technical guidelines.
• Stay abreast of technological advancements within data management systems, adapting to upgrades and new releases.

What you will have  

• 3-year accounting degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience, preferably CA Interns / CMAs / CPAs.
• Need 4-6 years of experience with a relevant 3 years or more of experience in handling financial systems & financial data domain.
• Shift Timings – 1.00 PM – 10.00 IST

Top candidates will also have:

• Strong knowledge of corporate Finance Accounting, knowledge on chart of accounts, finance data model, account payable, account receivable, reconciliation, and the finance accounting life cycle.
• Candidate must have experience in global environments and in- depth understanding of intercompany transactions, Multi- Org, Currency conversions.
• Experience in collaborating with finance data user teams on business process enhancements other Requirements.
• Experience in handling different types of reporting ex. Legal entity and business/management reporting.
• Knowledge of end-to-end data lifecycle across traditional data warehouses, relational databases, operational data stores, business intelligence reporting, and big data analytics.
• Understanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, data modeling, and data architecture concepts
• Knowledge of SQL and Python scripting.
• Experience with Python coding Development
• Ability to work collaboratively in a complex, rapidly changing, and culturally diverse environment.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas with functional teams, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where digital is still evolving as a core offering.
