The Canada Indirect Tax team is seeking an Indirect Tax Audit Manager to support all of Amazon's Canadian indirect tax audits, requests for information, and platform information reporting. This position requires frequent collaboration and communication with a variety of stakeholders. The successful candidate will interact closely with multiple internal teams as well as Canadian tax authorities. As such, this role requires someone who can confidently and accurately discuss data processes, findings, and outcomes with diverse audiences. While you will work most closely with the Canada Indirect Tax Audit lead, you will report directly to the Head of Canada Indirect Tax.
Key job responsibilities
• Support the Canada Indirect Tax Audit lead with setting and executing the overall audit strategy
• Assist in managing the end to end indirect tax audit lifecycle, including reviewing, understanding, and tracking data and information requests from tax authorities, meeting documentation, and related audit correspondence
• Develop a deep understanding of Amazon's systems and their interactions relating to the calculation, collection, recording, and remittance of Canadian indirect taxes.
• Comprehend data flows and work with partner teams to retrieve, review, analyze, validate, and prepare data, information, and supporting documentation in response to audits, information requests, platform reporting obligations, or requests from tax authorities. Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and alignment of the responses with the information being requested.
• Create standard operating procedures, templates and other end-to-end audit management documentation as needed
• Assist in preparing audit-readiness best practices documentation and track corrective actions
• Partner with business teams to identify and execute process improvement initiatives
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- 5+ years of experience in retrieving, analyzing, validating, and preparing audit data and documentation for Canadian Indirect Taxes
- Experience with:
- Canadian marketplace facilitator rules;
- Canadian Digital Reporting / OECD Platform Reporting Model Rules / DAC7;
- Preparing and filing platform information reporting returns in BC and Quebec; and
- Preparing and responding to Requests for Information
