Role and Responsibilities
Sutherland is currently looking to add a Network Security Engineer to their team. This job requires the fundamental understanding of Switching, Routing, and the TCP/IP Stack. It includes analyzing, monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading of network devices, firewall appliances and other devices. In this role, you will assist with designing and implementing large-scale network Security solutions across the data center, campus, wide-area, Wi-Fi, and cloud. Integrate automation and orchestration in the above designs, use network automation techniques to reduce repetitive workload, and improve project efficiency. Work with clients to better understand their requirements and develop innovative solutions to address them. Explore novel approaches to system integration with existing networking technologies. Help to create repeatable processes, detailed documentation, and artifacts that will be used at scale to develop and evolve enterprise technologies. Work with Engineering teams to define detailed Engineering requirements and system-level design, as well as provide architectural expertise and guidance. Respond to alerts, events, and customer reported issues within stated service level agreements and escalate problems as required to the engineering team and resolve significant matters exercising independent judgment ensuring that performance standards are met. Work with cross-functional teams (network, cloud, software, compute) and develop technical activities for customer trials and deployments.
Job Description
• Strong hands-on L2 level experience on Network Hardware like Cisco switches, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA.
• Strong practical knowledge of network concepts including DNS, DHCP, VPN, network protocols, port configuration, link aggregation, spanning tree optimization, and performance tuning.
• Extensive knowledge and support of Routing Protocols/Technologies such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS VPN, Multicast.
• Security Fundamentals: Should be able to understand / Explain concepts (NAT, ACL, Access Groups, IPsec, AAA) & have working knowledge and be able to troubleshoot network Protocols.
• Help establish networking environment by contributing to the design, configuration, and implementation of new networks.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment.
• Troubleshoot network problems and outages, schedule upgrades and collaborate with network architects and engineers on network optimization.
• Install, configure, manage, and fix Palo Alto, Fortinet & Cisco ASA/Firepower Firewalls.
• Maintain and manage border security systems, such as intrusion detection systems and firewalls.
• Support, monitor, and take care of existing configuration changes for Palo Alto, Fortinet & Cisco ASA/Firepower Firewalls.
• Conversant with procedures and standards as outlined by Sutherland policy , such as change management, automation, and revision control. He needs to configure and deploy security operating platform and maintain it.
• Aid in fixing network security issues of clients, suggest recommendations after researching best industry practices, creating documents for its configuration and installation. Engineer is also responsible for installing and maintaining Palo Alto, Fortinet & Cisco ASA/Firepower firewall technologies.
• Should possess expertise in TCP/IP. Engineers must have had experience in working with Internet technologies.
• Suggest, schedule, and conduct hardware and software enhancements, upgrades, reconfigurations, and patches. They coordinate with engineering and business units to deploy implement server systems that use best practices to meet the objectives of their organization/clients.
• Oversee and test network capacity and performance and make ready and provide statistics and reports of network performance. Plan and deploy network upgrades, fixes for maintenance, and patches.
• Carry out security measures to sort out data loss susceptibilities, minimize risk, suggest system components and security changes when needed, undertake security audits, assessments and detect security breaches in architecture, and suggest recommendations on IT security to management by identifying serious threats and susceptibilities.
• Ensure the network systems that support functions of the enterprise technology are available, reliable, and efficiently operating. In order to achieve that, monitor, support, and maximize the network infrastructure of the organization/clients.
• Interact regularly with the team members, clients, and engineering teams. Able to comprehend the client’s ecosystem, needs, and security roadmap to deploy the relevant security solution.
• Perform all the tasks in line with the organization’s/clients’ policies, procedures, and best practices.
