Job Description


Summarized Purpose:

Manages the performance and development of Clinical Team Managers and/or Clinical Managers in a designated region. Ensures projects are completed within budget, on time, and meet quality standards.


Essential Functions:
  • Leads and coordinates Clinical Management functions, including guiding managers in their day-to-day activities and responsibilities related to the clinical deliverables. Ensures the clinical teams receive the necessary support and resources for successfully delivering clinical deliverables, such as coordinating study start-up, monitoring, and site management deliverables. At a country level, may collaborate with other functional departments to ensure project delivery to clients and contribute to feasibility projects.
  • Ensures the timely completion of clinical tasks, prioritizing high-priority issues. In those cases, develops and implements strategies to optimize performance and achieve annual goals. Organizes meetings to identify potential challenges and collaborates with the clinical team to devise backup plans. Communicates any issues and potential solutions through appropriate channels. Reviews and evaluates project finances and escalates risks as needed for contract adjustments.
  • Manages clinical management resource levels including hiring and promoting, as appropriate. Participates in resource calls and ensure teams are provided with adequate levels of appropriately qualified resources.
  • Inducts new managers to PPD. Provides performance appraisals, evaluate and allocate bonuses and merit increases, as appropriate. Develops and motivates through goal setting, ongoing feedback, formal evaluation, and effective delegation of decision making. Ensures staff is trained and mentored according to company policies and procedures. Develops, implements and reviews key performance metrics.

- Manages the overall budgeting activity of the assigned group(s) - annual and long range forecast.


  • May participate in global and/or cross-functional initiatives and process improvement projects.
Qualifications:
  • Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in a life science related field or possess equivalent experience that has equipped them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • 10+ Years of working experience in Clinical Domain.
  • 5+ Years of working experience in Line Management Role.
  • 2+ Years of working experience in Leadership role.

- Must have working experience in Managing eTMF - Project Life Cycle activities from End to End.


  • Strong working experience in Clinical Trial Management, Service Delivery, Client Management, Budgeting, Forecasting, Performance Management, Quality/CAPA related activities.
  • Must have extensive clinical research experience (at least 10+ years), including remote and clinical monitoring. Experience in all study phases (start up, interim, and close out) is required. Also, should have experience managing a clinical management group in the designated country/region, based on its size and complexity.

  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical development regulatory guidelines and Directives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
Management Role:

Directs through lower management levels and/or highly skilled specialist employees who exercise significant latitude and independent judgment. Often heads one or more departments or a large centralized staff function. In some instances may be responsible for a functional area (as determined by executive management) and not have subordinate supervisors or employees. May manage employees across multiple regions.
