The Associate Category Manager at Amazon Pay will have end-to-end responsibility for the customer experience and growth of one category within the Utility Bill Payments portfolio. Amazon strives to present its customers with the widest selection of billers, product features, and categories. The Category Manager's role is to launch the relevant selection, manage partners including large public and private billers, and fulfillment providers. The Category Manager also works with cross-functional teams such as product manager(s), tech teams, marketing, analytics, finance, legal, and operations to deliver 360-degree results for the business. In short, they are the end-to-end owners of the category.
The Associate Category Manager anticipates customer needs based on first-hand data and knowledge of competitive trends in the market segment, as well as other macro-environment data.
The successful candidate for this high-impact role will be a self-starter with a passion for independent, creative problem-solving, proven data analysis skills, demonstrated "voice" and content creation skills (i.e., strong writing skills), a strong sense of ownership and commitment.
Key job responsibilities
The Associate Category Manager will be the business owner, with end-to-end responsibility of scaling one particular category under utility bill payments portfolio, identify and implement pockets of cost savings to grow the business sustainably. Specific responsibilities include-
a) Manage the partner ecosystem of large billers (private/public) to bring in relevant selection, negotiate margins, execute joint partnership initiatives and solve customer problems together.
b) Define and continuously improve the end-to-end customer experience by collaborating with internal stakeholders like marketing, product, tech, operations and billers
c) Play a pivotal role in defining product roadmap for the business by partnering with Product and tech leaders
d) As a process owner, reduce/optimize category manual processes which do not add value to customers
e) Deep dive on weekly/monthly business reviews to arrive at gaps and improvement opportunities

Amazon Pay is a fast growing organization within Amazon pioneering the next wave of customer acquisition & engagement. Bill Payments and Financial Services (BP-FSP) is the largest high frequency category within Amazon Pay where customers can conveniently make their everyday payments and avail exciting rewards. The external ecosystem consists of telcos, billers (private & public), banks, metros and insurance providers, while internally there are Category, Product, Marketing, Finance and operations teams. It is an exciting team to work as we are shaping the future growth of Amazon brick-by-brick, by revolutionizing how customers pay for their everyday needs by solving interesting problems in their journey.
- 2+ years of professional or military experience
- 2+ years of generating new opportunities with strong focus on pipeline tracking and deal execution through entire sales cycle experience
- 2+ years of exceeding quota and key performance metrics experience
- Master's degree
- Experience with business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business
- Experience and record of success in an outbound account management or prospecting role in B2B environments, preferably in a solution/technology-related environment
- Experience using Salesforce.com at an advanced level including the development of dashboards and reports, programing experience
