Summary:
Ares is currently searching for a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player to join as an Associate on the Alternative Credit (“Alt Credit”) Team in the Ares India Office, focused on supporting the Alternative Credit Team’ data gathering, portfolio reporting, and portfolio monitoring efforts.Focus asset classes will be Rated ABS, CLOs, CMBS, and various esoteric financing structures.
The position will be responsible for gathering portfolio and transaction performance information and translating that information into usable formats and models.
The nature of the team’s portfolio management process necessitates that a candidate be a self-starter, have strong attention to detail, a professional demeanor, along with analytical knowledge and skills relevant to structured investments.The ability to also develop ideas for improving and automating portfolio reporting and data gathering is a plus. The candidates should be proactive to rely on other Ares resources (e.g. accounting or IT teams) in order to overcome obstacles in order to get things done.
Primary responsibilities:
Manage and monitor the performance of Asset backed portfolios, including tracking cash flows, analyzing Investments.
Monitor the borrowing base report and track covenants.
Perform data checks for investment data.
Provide portfolio reporting deliverables.
Enhance and further develop portfolio and position reporting
General Requirements:
Advanced MS Excel modeling skills (index + match, macros, and array formulas)
Intermediate MS PowerPoint skills
Programming skills (VBA, SQL, python) are an advantage.
Knowledge and experiences on corporate debt structure and leverage loans is a plus.
Self-motivated and driven; ability to work effectively in a collegial, fast moving, demanding, and dynamic environment
Creative problem solver – Ability to work through kinks in a process as opposed to getting stuck.
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate direct and succinct statuses on projects and deliverablesImpeccable integrity and trustworthiness
Experience Required: 3-5 years of finance or accounting experience with exposure to structured finance/securitization preferred
