Job Description
• Assist in the management of civil and structural engineering contractors assigned to work on the design of renewable energy facilities, including definition of requirements and specifications, review of engineering drawings and RFI management.
• Optimize design to maximize ROI
• Develop preliminary design criteria and specifications of roads, foundations, concrete, geotechnical investigation, hydrology investigation, solar trackers, pull out test, O&M Buildings for renewable energy facilities including wind farms, PV plants, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and other renewable energy projects. Maintain and optimize preliminary design criteria and specifications per project lessons learned and best in class industry standards.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve complex engineering challenges during design and construction phases. Review of project supporting calculations, civil equipment specifications, engineering drawings and reports, site test reports, etc.
• Undertake periodic site visits to ensure quality and safety of the civil and structural systems at different stages of construction.
• Follow civil “Safety in Design” process for all Acciona projects in development and engineering.
• Support the civil and structural Non-Conformities program and Root Cause Analysis to accurately determine failure modes and any quality audits necessary. Identify and share lessons learned from projects to accurately improve overall project safety, quality, schedule and cost.
• Provide civil and structural engineering consulting support to other areas of the organization, including O&M and Business Development.
• Responsible for the Safety and Environmental compliance of Acciona’s personnel and civil and structural subcontractors in accordance with federal, state and local laws, and Acciona policies, practices and procedures. Ensure all personnel and subcontractors meet technical and safety training requirements.
• Oversee the civil and structural tests performed by Construction Team on site during the construction of the renewable energy facilities. Support the QA/QC team on site.
• Provide technical support to Procurement department. Review of technical evaluations of main equipment. Approval of equipment and material proposals from civil and structural contractors and OEMs.
• Review and comment on the scope of work on civil contracts.
• Support the Construction Team in the review and preparation of RFPs to be submitted to contractors. Review and evaluate estimates.
• Using internal estimates, accurately forecast the scope, cost and duration of future projects in early development stages.
• Maintain and calibrate the construction estimating tool. Track the market and follow market trends (commodity and labor pricing).
• Follow Company’s processes and procedures to safely and effectively design and test Acciona renewable generating facilities for “Best in Class Performance”.
• Maintain a current understanding of renewable generation technology by participating in various training opportunities and reading Acciona and industry documents and publications as well as participating in other professional development activities.
• Represent Acciona within the industry, including professional presentations to national trade groups, and acting as an advisor to industry boards. Maintain affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
• Create the weekly and monthly reporting requirements for our internal and external customers, as well as KPI reporting.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies
Education: BE/B.Tech in Civil Engineering
Year of experience – 10 to 12 years in similar field
Salary – Best in the industry
Work location: Work from home, monthly 3 to 4 days from office, it is night shift.
Additional Qualification:
• P.E license preferred or ability to obtain the P.E. license in one year.
• 10 to 12 years of experience in Civil Design of energy or heavy industrial facilities. A concentration in renewable energy industry is a plus including PV, Wind and/or BESS.
• Excellent communications skills, with the ability to provide training on complex operations
• Demonstrate continuous commitment to safe operations. Be an active role model and constant resource to the organization.
• Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in ASCE, ANSI/ASTM, AASHTO and other industry applicable standards and codes (ACI, AISC, AWS, etc) .
• Knowlede of civil/structural design software (ArcGIS, Autoturn, Hydraulic Models, FEM models, RSMeans etc).
• Ability to communicate detailed information accurately to internal / external customers
• Ability to professionally represent the company when dealing with external organizations
• Ability to travel 15% - 30% of time to domestic and international locations.
• Able to work in an indoor or outdoor environment.
• Have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
