An AS/400 RPG Support professional is responsible for maintaining and enhancing applications on IBM's AS/400 (iSeries) platform using the RPG programming language. This role involves troubleshooting, developing new features, and ensuring system reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Maintenance: Monitor and resolve issues in existing RPG applications to ensure optimal performance.
- Development: Design, code, test, and implement new features or applications based on user requirements.
- System Integration: Collaborate with other systems and applications to ensure seamless data flow and functionality.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for applications and processes.
- User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct testing and debugging to maintain high-quality code standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with RPG IV, RPGLE, and CL programming languages on the AS/400 platform.
- Database Management: Knowledge of DB2/400 and SQL for database operations.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Experience: Typically, a minimum of 5 years in AS/400 system design and programming.
