Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator with extensive experience in PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Ansible. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management and automation using Ansible AWX and Ansible AAP, with a focus on leveraging Ansible to streamline and enhance database operations. Responsibilities Database Design and Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain database systems using PostgreSQL and MySQL. Optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and storage management. Develop and implement database backup, recovery, and replication strategies. Automation and Scripting: Utilize Ansible for automation of database deployment, configuration, and management tasks. Develop and maintain scripts for database monitoring, maintenance, and operational tasks. Ensuring Governance of automation governance is in place and knowledge is documented on code generated Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor database systems for performance, reliability, and security. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly. Conduct regular database health checks and audits. Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment of database strategies with business objectives. Collaborate with senior management to communicate database performance and improvement plans. Maintenance and Release Management: Ensure maintenance is planned for the entire year and published in the release calendar. Coordinate with relevant teams to schedule and execute maintenance activities with minimal disruption. Collaboration and Roadmapping: Work closely with the engineering team to understand and incorporate the product roadmap into database strategies. Collaborate with development teams to ensure database schemas and queries are optimized. Security and Compliance: Ensure compliance with database security policies and best practices. Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive data. Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor and provide guidance to junior database administrators. Lead initiatives to improve database management processes and practices. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 10-12 years of experience working with PostgreSQL and MySQL databases. Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience with Ansible for database automation. Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and performance optimization. Proficiency in SQL and database scripting languages. Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL). Knowledge of other database technologies such as MongoDB, Oracle, or SQL Server. Experience with DevOps practices and tools. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
