With the ever-increasing volume and complexity of regulatory requirements, security threats, and customer expectations, we are growing and have exciting work planned. 

How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to Senior Director, Network Architecture as the Application Security Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of application security engineers and ensuring the overall security of our applications (both internal and customer facing). This role requires a strong leadership mindset, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of application security principles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect our applications from potential threats.

• Develop Application Security Services: You will be responsible for building and implementing key application security services to ensure that security is integrated and prioritized at every phase of the application development cycle. This includes establishing security requirements, monitoring compliance, and updating security policies.  Drive up demand of company wide services for development.
• Security Assessment and Risk Management: Conduct security assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and risks in our applications. Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure that our applications meet the highest security standards.
• Secure Development Lifecycle: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into the application development lifecycle. Provide guidance and support to ensure secure coding practices, secure infrastructure design, and adherence to industry best practices.
• Develop Application Security SMEs: Lead and manage a team of application security engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their professional growth and success.
• Regulatory Compliance: Develop and implement application security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect Ciena's applications and sensitive data.
• Cross Functional Engagements: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and product management, to integrate security measures into the software development lifecycle.
• Industry and Competitive Analysis: Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, technologies, and best practices, and proactively recommend improvements to enhance the overall security posture of our applications.
• Security Training and Awareness: Work closely with internal stakeholders to provide security guidance, support, and training to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Application Security Consulting: Act as a subject matter expert on application security matters, providing technical expertise and guidance to the broader organization.
• Application Security Communication: Foster a culture of security awareness and accountability throughout the organization.

The Must Haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
• A relevant Master’s Degree or industry-recognized certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), GIAC Incident Handler (GCIH), or GIAC Security Operations Manager Certification (GSOM), demonstrate a high level of expertise in information security and incident management and are highly desirable, but not required.
