We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Discovery and Migration Specialist to lead the discovery, planning, and migration efforts for our legacy Oracle databases, including versions 11g, 12c, and RAC clusters, across on-premise and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database architecture, data migration strategies, and cloud technologies, particularly Azure, with expertise in leveraging tools such as RMAN, AzCopy, and Data Guard. **Responsibilities:** 1. **Database Discovery:** Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing Oracle database environments, including versions 11g, 12c, and RAC clusters, to understand architecture, configurations, dependencies, and performance characteristics. 2. **Migration Planning:** Develop strategic migration plans for transitioning legacy Oracle databases from on-premise infrastructure to the Azure cloud platform, considering factors such as data volume, complexity, downtime requirements, and compliance considerations. 3. **Data Migration Approach:** Design and implement data migration approaches for high-volume databases, involving terabytes of data, leveraging tools such as Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) for backup and restore, AzCopy for data transfer, and Oracle Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery. 4. **Cloud Deployment Architecture:** Define and implement scalable and resilient database deployment architectures in Azure cloud, considering Azure VMs, Azure Managed Disks, Azure Blob Storage, and other relevant services to optimize performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. 5. **Data Guard Implementation:** Configure and manage Oracle Data Guard environments to ensure data protection, high availability, and disaster recovery capabilities for mission-critical workloads in Azure cloud. 6. **Performance Optimization:** Collaborate with database administrators, developers, and infrastructure teams to optimize database performance, tuning SQL queries, indexing strategies, and database parameters for optimal resource utilization and responsiveness. 7. **Security and Compliance:** Implement security best practices and compliance standards for Oracle databases in Azure cloud, including encryption, access controls, auditing, and regulatory compliance requirements. 8. **Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:** Prepare detailed documentation of migration plans, procedures, configurations, and best practices, and provide training and knowledge transfer to relevant stakeholders to ensure successful adoption and ongoing support. **Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Extensive experience in Oracle database administration, including versions 11g, 12c, and RAC clusters, in both on-premise and cloud environments.
- Strong proficiency in database migration methodologies and tools, particularly Oracle RMAN, AzCopy, and Data Guard.
- In-depth understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies, with hands-on experience in Azure cloud platform, including Azure VMs, Azure Blob Storage, and Azure networking.
- Familiarity with database performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and high availability configurations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex database environments and devise effective migration strategies.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.15 years of education
