Northern Trust is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Capacity Manager to oversee the change capacitymanagement process for our various infrastructure towers while overseeing the role of functional change managers.



The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that capacity issues are prevented utilizing property capacity management. In addition, this person will oversee the patch and change managers to ensure that our IT infrastructure changes are properly assessed, planned, implemented, and reviewed, minimizing risk and maximizing value to the business.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Liaison between the Infrastructure and BU partners to gain first-hand insight into app changes that might increase trade or data volumes, needed capacity (disk space, RAM, etc.)



  • Working with Mark Stevenson and team to ensure that quarterly management is completed within SLA w/o reminder. 



  • Working with towers to confirm strategic / meaningful capacity planning is performed and reported to Mark Stevenson quarterly.



  • Templating, scripting, and eventually automation of capacity reporting across all towers to reduce risk – including swift roll back as needed.



  • Downloading, testing, documenting of procedures, capacity tracking, reporting on Confluence sites is updated without delay.



  • Trending and deep dive of capacity-related SINCs to prevent future recurrence via improved alerting and capacity management.



  • Working with Enterprise Monitoring team to implement BMC TCO on all servers.



  • Meeting with each tower quarterly to discuss trends, decide upon issue avoidance changes, coordinate, and track in central location for all towers.



  • Mentor the Patch Manager and Change Management posts



  • Capacity, Patching and Change Strategy and Policy:



  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Capacity, Patching and Change management strategy aligned with ITSM frameworks and financial industry best practices



  • Participate in the creation and update ofCapacity, Patching and Change management policies and procedures for all platform teams



  • Attend and represent all distributed Platform teams changes at the Major Events Advisory Board (MEAB)



  • Oversee and perform complete management and review cycle of the role of several Change Managers in the US, APAC and / or EMEA regions



  • Change Request Management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Avoid conflicts of interest or behaviors that might produce unfair outcomes for Northern Trust or its clients or damage the integrity of financial markets. 



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field



  • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years focusing on Capacity, Patching and Change management



  • Strong understanding of infrastructure platform, network, middleware, monitoring, mainframe, and database environments



  • In-depth knowledge of ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL)



  • Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy)



  • Excellent project management and organizational skills



  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities



  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

WORK SCHEDULE



  • Full-time position, 3 days per week in the office



  • May require occasional evening and weekend work for critical changes
