Introduction to role
As a Data Engineer in Data Science and Advanced Analytics, you will have an incredible opportunity within the Commercial Strategic Data Management team to support the transformation of data science and sophisticated analytics for the Rare Disease Unit. You will craft, develop, and field data science solutions that drive impact for patients. Your main focus will be to leverage tools and technology best practices to improve delivery performance and data engineering capabilities in the D&A space, creating a seamless platform for the DS team and driving business growth. You will work closely with the Data Science and Advanced Analytics team, US Commercial leadership, Sales Field Team, and Field Operations to further build the data science capability supporting Commercial needs.
Work with the Commercial Multi-functional team to see opportunities for leveraging internal and external data to drive business solutions.
Responsibility includes working closely with business and sophisticated data science teams for various multi-functional projects and driving delivery of sophisticated data science solutions that drive value to the Commercial Organization.
Handle the platform and processes for sophisticated projects using a wide breadth of data engineering techniques in sophisticated analytics.
Shown working experience as a data engineer/business data engineer.
Interpret data, process data, analyze results, and provide ongoing reports.
Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize data efficiency and quality.
Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in sophisticated data sets.
Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
Solid understanding in Snowflake and databases (SQL, Amazon Redshift, S3, Oracle, etc.) and experience with data integration tools (ETL) (Talend, Informatica, SSIS, etc.).
Experience in building data pipelines using ETL tools.
Strong Analytical Skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Adept at queries, scripts, stored procedures, report writing, and communicating findings.
Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
Manage and provide support to data solutions in BAU scenarios.
Experience in data analysis techniques such as investigating, interpreting, and documenting data structures.
You will need to have:
BS/MS in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Economic) with solid understanding of statistical analysis and modeling.
5+ years of work experience with DB skills like SQL, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, MongoDB, Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, AWS cloud and Amazon S3 experience, Oracle, Teradata.
Good experience in Apache Spark or Talend Administration Center or AWS Lambda, MongoDB, Informatica, SQL Server Integration Services, etc.
Good knowledge in Data Integration/ETL concepts and programming skills: Python.
Good experience in consulting, healthcare, or biopharmaceuticals.
Good written and verbal skills, and willing to work in a cross-cultural environment.
An analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving and proficiency in data manipulation, cleansing, and interpretation.
Working in a support and maintenance project along with ticket handling and change management experience.
Good communication skills and ability to communicate sophisticated methods and results to diverse audiences.
Hands-on Experience working with EHR, administrative claims, and laboratory data (e.g., Prognos, IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony claims data).
To build an efficient Data Management (Extract, consolidate and store large datasets with improved data quality and consistency).
With streamlined data transformation: Convert raw data into usable formats at scale, automate tasks, and apply business rules.
Setting up Workflow Orchestration (Schedule and handle data pipelines for smooth flow and automation).
Candidate must have technical experience in database structures, query languages, structured programming languages, and the ability to query large datasets using ANSI SQL/HIVE SQL and working with relational databases.
Importance of Scalability and Performance (in handling large data volumes with optimized processing capabilities).
Seamless Data Integration: Connect and integrate data from diverse sources easily.
Focus more into Data Governance and Security (by ensuring compliance and protect sensitive data).
Building collaborative Workflows that enables team teamwork and maintain organized workflows with seamless data flow.
We would prefer for you to have:
Knowledge of distributed computing and Big Data Technologies like Hive, Spark, Scala, HDFS and use these technologies along with statistical tools like Python/R.
Experience with Git.
Experience working with Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests and responses and API REST services.
Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, Excel charts/reports.
Prior experience with Data Tokenization.
Working knowledge of the Salesforce/Veeva CRM, Data governance, and Data mining algorithms.
