BlackRock Global Markets and Index Investments (BGM) brings together BlackRock’s index equity, index fixed income, global trading, securities lending, cash management, ETF markets, and financing and financial resource management businesses to deliver investment, trading, financing and risk management excellence for clients every minute of every day.
The AI Office within BlackRock Global Markets & Index Investments (BGM) is a newly established function that is focused on transforming our businesses with the use of AI, with 3 specific goals : scaling the investment process to increase productivity, generating insights to deliver performance and identifying revenue opportunities to grow our business. We will achieve these goals by developing a cohesive AI strategy for BGM, helping drive prioritization and governance and connecting with partners across the Firm on AI initiatives. Also critical is the acceleration of our execution plans for AI, helping run pilots and proof of concepts to final deployed products and the incubation of AI DNA into BGM, bringing in new skills to make us better technologists and help amplify our collective impact. To this end, a BGM AI Center of Excellence is being established in Gurgaon to be a key driver of the program and a great central partner to all BGM functions in delivering on our AI goals.
Job Purpose/Background:
The BGM AI office is looking for a dynamic individual to join their AI Center of Excellence team, that will work with all BGM functions (encompassing Trading, Index Equity, Index Fixed Income, Securities Lending, Cash, Financing and Counterparty Relationship Management teams) to build core AI capabilities. The primary job responsibilities include research and development of use cases on language models (LLMs) and build out of quantitative/ML based components to accelerate our execution on BGM’s AI strategy. The team will focus on identifying key AI ideas for BGM, incubating and delivering Proof of Concepts and working with businesses to roll out successful pilots to production workflows. The work will also involve building common platforms and toolkits for use by in-business partners and helping raise the AI skillset for all of BGM.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with in-business teams on the design and development of AI models/use cases for key BGM initiatives, focusing on the technical build and evaluation of Proof of Concepts towards Production, especially in the fast moving Generative AI space
Be a subject matter expert and a resource for large language models (LLMs)/ Natural language processing work within BGM
Build quantitative/ML models as needed and in partnership with research and data science teams within BGM and at the Firm
Create common tools and platform solutions that can be useful across multiple BGM use cases, leveraging and adapting Firm technology where applicable
Work with BGM’s data engineering teams to source new datasets for AI modeling
Work with BLK’s central AI office and other AI-forward teams at BlackRock, especially in Investment organizations to identify synergies and opportunities to partner
Create alignment and help build a community with AI, Research and data teams in Gurgaon and within BGM globally
Skills & Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in the Financial services industry in a Data/ Analytics/Research/Technology oriented role requiring knowledge of investment workflows and products
Bachelor’s education with a focus on statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science or related fields
Experience with natural language processing and the modern Transformer architecture for text summarization, vectorization, entity extraction and reasoning
Experience with emerging LLM offerings from industry leaders
Experience in python & related framework/libraries
Experience with data engineering (ETLs) and analytical tools (Tableau, PowerBI etc.)
Knowledge of various modelling techniques, econometrics / statistical analysis, mathematical optimization, is desirable
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
