Advisor, Scrum Master
What does a successful Scrum Master do at Fiserv?
You will be part of a team of professionals who excel in delivering world class solutions as part of Issuer Solutions to our clients. The scrum master is responsible for institutionalization of Agile principles & values, the continuous improvement of the process and dynamic of the team. Your direct and indirect involvement will result building high performing engineering teams.
You will perform Agile rituals, facilitate scrum events, work with product owner/partner, coordinate with management and follow release management guidelines. Your work will include coaching team members, proactively eliminating barriers, and facilitating team delivery on sprint goals.
What you will do:
Manages and Organizes for Flow of Work
- Help to cultivate and optimize a continuous flow of work across the team.
- Collaborate with the Product Champion, team and other stakeholders to prioritize delivery and clarify requirements in terms of testability, consistency, and completeness.
- Facilitate and participate in relevant Agile events (e.g., planning, retrospectives, and daily standups)
Teaches, Coaches & Mentors
- Advocate, adopt and coach the team on lean Agile principles and practices.
- Help to guide and coach the team on frameworks, methodologies and events.
- Connect activities, techniques and process to Principles and Values: promoting an ‘Agile Mindset.’
- Provide support to develop a product roadmap.
- Resolve conflicts between team members.
- Connect teams with services provided with the larger Agile community.
- Coach team members in self-management and cross-functionality
Removes Impediments
- Provide support to team members in removing/resolving obstacles and escalate to leadership to help resolve impediments.
- Shield the team from external interference and distractions to keep team focused on sprint goals
Leads by Example in Demonstrating Agile Values
- Embrace a model and culture that promotes an empowered team environment.
- Creates psychology of safety within the team
Showcases Accountability
- Serve as liaison between the product owner, development team, and management in order to ensure that all targets and requirements are met.
- Help continuously improve the delivery capability of the team.
- Act as Servant Leader to support the team and the Product Champion
- Ensure relevant metrics are being captured to help improve team delivery of value.
What you will need to have:
- 12+ years of experience working in Agile Teams and playing the role of a Scrum Master
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Clarity, and Atlassian Suite (Jira and Confluence)
- At least one certification as Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, ACP etc)
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in at least one of the roles on a Scrum Team.
- Experience in setting up agility at Delivery Team level and able to mentor and advise multiple Delivery Teams within the organization
- Ability to work independently and with minimal direction.
- Knowledge about in agile practices such as TDD, BDD, pair programming, automation
- Ability to work with remote/distributed teams and teams with varying level of agile maturity.
- Highly adaptable to a constantly changing environment.
- Must have exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills.
What would be great to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or equivalent
- Certification in Agile at scale preferred (SAFe, LeSS, DAD, Spotify etc.)
- Worked in programs having large number of concurrent, remote Agile Teams
