Job Description:
General competencies:
Working as a member of a team and providing
QA/QC support for modular / Hydrogen / Callidus / KME / PECS product lines for
UOP’s customers in India and worldwide.
• The work involves development of inspection
plan for the projects. Carrying out inspections/ shop visits during fabrication
to ensure implementation and compliance of the inspection plan. Providing
technical support during procurement of materials, construction/ fabrication of
modules/ skids to ensure sound inspection and QA/ QC for Pressure Vessels,
Rotary equipment’s, Piping, Structural etc.
• Analyzing
and recommending solutions to technical problems in the area of inspection and
QA/QC. Providing technical support as needed for proposals, cost estimates and
design basis data. Develop procedures, standards and tools for inspection and
QA/ QC executed in various projects.
• Identify
areas of improvement / gaps in system and recommend required changes.
• Close
interaction with suppliers / fabricators to ensure a sound inspection and QA/QC
plan for the project.
• Close
interaction with external Third Party inspection agencies inspectors for
implementation of the inspection plan.
• Close
coordination with other engineering disciplines.
• Traveling
about 20%, for providing technical assistance during setting up of project
inspection plan, and compliance during fabrication of modules and skids in
India as well as overseas.
• Ensure to
meet customer satisfaction requirements, including UOP Quality standards and
UOP technical standards.
• Actively
participate to ensure that ISO 9001 certification is maintained and perform
Internal Audits
• Ensure to
provide input and participates in Supplier evaluation reviews, project
close-out reports and subsequent meetings. Act on applicable specialist
group-related RCA’s (root cause analysis) for CAPA’s (corrective &
preventive actions) that come out of these reviews.
• Follow-up
on items and lessons learned for applicable specialization as captured thro’
RCA’s for a CAPA, field reports, establish root cause and implement corrective
actions.
• Manage
and address cross departmental issues, including specialist engineering issues
related to Equipment integration with other UOP technologies and with other UOP
Equipment Offices (International Alignment).
• Provides
deliverables within budgeted cost and schedule with a high level of quality.
•
Communicates with project manager on a regular basis regarding progress,
changes & schedule.
• Keeps
up-to-date with current technology developments in area of expertise and shares
this knowledge with others, where appropriate through leadership of Community
of Practices.
• Manage
applicable specialist group-related documentation and work with the Team to
implement the Document Management system to ensure alignment with work process.
• Support and adhere to corporate HS&E
policies, in relation to Office & Field Safety practices and engineering
design policies.

• Relevant
experience in Inspection QA/QC for the petroleum refining & petrochemical
industry.
• Hands on
experience in developing inspection and QA/ QC plans, carrying out quality
surveys, NDE during fabrication etc; reviewing weld procedure; reviewing
constructability, selecting materials etc.
• Experienced
in inspection of static, Rotary equipment’s, piping & Structural. To be
Level-II qualified by ASME SNTC -1A or international equivalent in RT, UT, MT,
PT & VT.
• Good
computer skills are required. Good communication skills are essential.

Experience/ Knowledge of inter-disciplinary linkages & interdependencies.
• Capable
of taking independent judgments and critical decisions as required.
• Understanding
of Equipment Design and Fabrication techniques, standards and tools.
• Good
Knowledge and understanding of ASME Section II, V, VIII, IX, B31.3, AWS D1.1
codes / standards.
