TITLE: Community Mentorship Coordinator
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Cairo LOCATION: Cairo
GRADE: 5 CONTRACT LENGTH: till September 2025

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)


Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.



ROLE PURPOSE:


This position will be responsible for assisting the Child Protection case management system in Save the Children (SCI) and ensure that case management is conducted in accordance with the inter-agency and Save the Children Child Protection case management standards operating procedures. He/she will be supervising the community mentorship component.


Projects Scope:


This project aims at providing protection and case management services for unaccompanied children in Cairo from the refugee community. The project will directly support the children in their protection needs establishing a tailored, timely and integrated case management system in addition to supporting local communities to strengthen the community-based protection mechanisms through the Community Mentorship Program.



SCOPE OF ROLE:


 Reports to: Case Management Officer


Staff directly reporting to this post: 8-10 community volunteers.



KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:


Project Implementation:


· Lead the implementation of the community mentorship program through assisting in the selection, supervising and coordinating the work of 6-8 community mentors assisting children in protection needs based on case management assessment.


· Plan for and organize group activities for newly arrived UACs for integration in their different communities, local community, provide briefings on services, build capacity for financial planning, problem solving and psychosocial support.


· Liaise with representatives of the refugee communities on child protection issues;


· Conduct field visits to provide support to community mentors in the field and respond to their urgent inquiries;


· Responsible for capacity building to Community mentors and active community leaders;


· Facilitate and coordinate community engagement sessions with partner organizations.


· Carry out any other necessary tasks in support to the Child Protection team.


· Ensure proper data gathering and data accuracy as per monitoring and evaluation plan;


· Maintain the data for the project’s mentorship componenet;


· Compile concise quantitative and qualitative reports on a monthly and quarterly basis from different projects;


· Draft and submit all related payment requests to the mentorship program;


· Assist in monitor the mentorship program budget variances on monthly and quarterly basis; Ensure that projects follow donor and Save the Children’s budget utilization guidelines.


In case of Emergency:


· Promote children's rights, contributing to their well-being and protection in times of emergencies, guided by humanitarian principles and code of conduct.  


· During emergencies, he/she should act in a way that facilitates SCI’s response to emergencies, giving priority to all assigned.


· Be prepared to support SCI interventions in response to emergencies and show needed flexibility

QUALIFICATIONS


· Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or in development related fields;


· 1 to 3 years of experience in the development/humanitarian field with a focus on child protection.



EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS


• Commitment to Save the Children values and Child Safeguarding;


• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;


• Comfortable with high levels of ambiguity and able to take decisions independently in fluid context;


• Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written) is required;


• Experience with refugee/marginalized communities is desired.
