The Tax and Zakat Accounting Unit Manager is responsible for managing the company's tax and zakat accounting, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and providing accurate and timely tax and zakat filings. This role involves overseeing tax-related activities, liaising with regulatory bodies, and providing tax advisory to the finance department.


Key Accountabilities
  • Establish and maintain a dedicated file including necessary certificates and contracts for official authorities (e.g., founding contracts, tax certificates).
  • Liaise with the account manager at the General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT), VAT, and Customs.
  • Prepare and file monthly VAT returns and withholding tax returns .
  • Submit re-examination data .
  • Provide tax advisory services to the finance department regarding VAT and withholding tax.
  • Stay updated on amendments and improvements to international and local accounting standards, ensuring their proper application in alignment with the company’s internal asset policy.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports required by the Zakat, Tax, and Project Accounts department to contribute to the balance sheet activities.
  • Address and resolve issues, recommendations, and challenges raised by internal and external audits.
  • Perform additional tasks as required, such as supporting other financial departments, inventory, coding of assets, data migration between systems, etc.
  • Update asset movement transactions in the system, ensuring they match actual physical movements.
  • Complete and review the valuation of assets and provisions for asset impairment or disposals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

We Are Looking For:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • More than 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 5 years of experience in tax and zakat management or related field.
  • Extensive experience in managing tax and zakat accounting.
  • Familiarity with local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in preparing and filing tax returns (VAT, withholding tax, etc.).
  • Proficiency in reconciling tax accounts and managing tax-related transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
