The System Administrator is responsible for the reliable and efficient operation of the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and related systems. They will manage and maintain computer systems, implement security measures, and provide technical support to end-users. The System Administrator will work closely with other IT teams and departments to ensure the continuous availability and performance of critical systems.
1. Manage and maintain servers, workstations, and other IT equipment, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
2. Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
3. Perform regular backups, data recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning to protect against data loss.
4. Implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, access controls, and patch management, to safeguard against cyber threats.
5. Upgrade and patch software and systems to ensure the latest security updates and functionality.
6. Automate repetitive tasks and processes using scripting languages and tools to improve efficiency.
7. Provide technical support and training to end-users, including troubleshooting, resolving issues, and documenting IT processes.
8. Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., network, database, application) to ensure the seamless integration and operation of systems.
9. Stay up to date with the latest technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and recommend improvements to the IT infrastructure.
10. Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades.
11. Participate in the development and implementation of IT policies, procedures, and standards.
12. Assist with the procurement and deployment of new hardware and software.
13. Take responsibility for projects and solutions within the larger business initiative
14. Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide commercial advantage in the global marketplace
15. Enable faster and smarter business processes, and develop analytics for meaningful insights
16. Work with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements
17. Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, configurations, and processes.
18. Provide on-call support during non-business hours for critical systems or emergency situations.
19. Mentor and train junior system administrators or IT support staff.
20. Maintain inventory of hardware and software assets.
21. Manage licensing agreements and software renewals.
22. Assist in IT budget planning and cost optimization initiatives.
