Then come and join our global team as SW Field Service Engineer, based in Cairo, Egypt


The Field Service Engineer HW (FSE Hardware) is the primary contact for Varian Medical Systems (VMS) customer service and repair needs ensuring that our customers’ equipment always operates efficiently. The FSE is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, upgrading and performing preventative maintenance on all designated VMS equipment according to instructions and company guidelines, each FSE operates in a designated field service territory and represents VMS, this role will be based in the Cairo/Egypt area, with travel to other distributor-based Areas handled by Varian's Field Service Team in Egypt.


In this diverse and challenging position, you are responsible for servicing and maintaining complex software and the underlying IT infrastructure used in radiotherapy at our customers facilities. You will perform planned and pro-active maintenance tasks as well as emergency service interventions when required.


Your tasks and responsibilities:


  • Support, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair of IT systems/Oncology Information Software.
  • Involvement on major systems upgrade and installations in cooperation with EMEA Installation Team.
  • Pro-Active support through the means of monitoring systems.
  • Further dispatch or escalate incidents when needed to the next service levels or request additional assistance from specialists.
  • Constant training to gain and maintain a sound service and product knowledge.
  • Documenting all service activities into the CRM system.
  • Support in rolling out new pro-active service tools and processes.
  • Onsite customers visits are also part of the duties of the System Engineer.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Technical Institute in a related discipline e.g. University degree in computer Engineering or Electronics and communication Department (or appropriate professional qualification and experience).
  • You have minimum 1– 3 years’ experience in field service, medical field service (preferable)
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge and experience in maintaining complex IT Solutions (VMWare, Microsoft Windows based Client/Server Solution, Citrix / Parallels, Microsoft SQL Databases, ARCserve/Veeam Backup solution and TCP/IP based Network components, Linux, Kubernetes, etc..).
  • IT certificates are an asset (CCNA, MCSA, Citrix, VMware…).
  • You have a proactive attitude with excellent organizational skills. You are able to work independently as well as part of a team. You thrive in managing numerous tasks accurately and simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
