Role purpose:

The purpose of Vodafone Shared Operations is to connect for a better future.  Our vision is to be the trusted partner of choice for Business to Telco (“B2T”) solutions globally (talent, technology and transformation).  We will prioritise customers, simplicity and growth to secure a 30% share of the B2T sector by 2030.  We will extend and grow beyond our borders, commercialise to meet and exceed existing customer demands and re-platform to simplify, streamline and scale our business.


This Strategic Programmes and Transformation Lead will play a critical role in transformation and change management within our Function, so that we are well positioned to support the business for growth. A strategic thinker with proven leadership and programme management abilities, they will oversee a portfolio of strategic initiatives and programmes to enable our Function to act as thought leaders, delivering end-to-end solutions for the business and creating real value.  They will also develop and implement best practices for legal operations, including contract management, legal and security technology, knowledge management, metrics and reporting.  Initiatives that they implement will streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance the quality of services provided to the business.  


This individual will be able to cut through complexity and motivate working teams across our Function to produce thought leadership papers for the GMT in areas where Shared Operations has to stay a step ahead of commercial and legal/ regulatory developments to influence business decisions and outcomes.  They will business partner with our Functional leadership to improve processes and digitization to optimize efficiencies in ways of working.  They will also support full engagement with our external supplier base to drive efficiencies in spend and create value add back into the function as well.  These initiatives will enable the Function to make data-led decisions on where it invests in people, processes and systems to best support Vodafone Shared Operations as it grows.  They will lead a full, long-term transformation and training programme to ensure that the Function is solutions focused, well-equipped and ready to enable a fast-changing commercial organisation.




Key accountabilities:

•    Strategic transformation and change management – develop and implement a high-impact transformation roadmap for the Function, positioning us to align and enable the Vodafone Shared Operations vision and strategic objectives. This role will be critical in ensuring that our Function creates value and operates efficiently and effectively to support business growth.  The individual will lead and manage transformation initiatives, ensuring successful delivery, stakeholder engagement and sustainable change.  They will identify and drive opportunities for process improvement, automation and digitization within the Function.



•    Programme and Project Management – act as business manager for the General Counsel and oversee a portfolio of programmes and projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including within the Service Towers, to ensure alignment and integration of Legal, Business Integrity and External Affairs programmes within broader organizational projects.



•    Operational Excellence – ensure operational efficiency across the Function, including managing resources, suppliers, budgets and technology solutions.  Develop and implement best practices for legal operations, including contract management, legal and security technology, knowledge management, metrics and reporting.  Lead initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance the quality of services provided to the business.


•    Stakeholder Management and Communication – act as key liaison between our Function and other business units (e.g. the wider CSO organisation and Vodafone Group) to ensure the design and delivery of relevant programmes.  Manage external relationships with vendors, consultants and other third-party service providers.



•    Leadership and Team Development – build and lead a high-performing team.  Provide coaching and business partnering on programmes and projects to the Functional Leadership Community.  Lead on functional programmes that foster a culture of innovation, forward-thinking and continuous improvement with the Function.




Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

•    Strategic Thinking: a strategic thinker who dares to be different.  An ability to develop and execute a vision for transformation and operational excellence in an enabling function.
•    Leadership: proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving change in a complex environment.  
•    Programme management: strong understanding of programme and project management methodologies, tools and best practices.
•    Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to improve processes, enhance efficiency and implement innovative solutions.
•    Analytical skills:  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at senior level.




Must have technical / professional qualifications:

•    Extensive experience in legal/ compliance/ risk/ security operations, programme management or transformation roles within a corporate environment.
•    Proven track record of successfully leading and managing transformation initiatives and complex programmes.
•    Strong understanding of legal/ compliance/ risk/ security processes, technology and operations in an in-house environment.
•    Experience in managing budgets, resources and vendor relationships.
•    Professional level fluency in written and spoken English
