TITLE:  Livelihood Coordinator
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Operations LOCATION: Greater Cairo
GRADE: 5 CONTRACT LENGTH: 36 Month – annual contract according to budget availability and based on performance 

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)


Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g.


once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.



ROLE PURPOSE:  


The Livelihoods, Youth Empowerment Coordinator will be supporting the livelihood Officer in the implementation of the livelihoods and life skills activities for youth refugees and migrants and from the host community. The post holder will provide technical support and leadership to the Livelihoods coaches and livelihoods community mentors to deliver the full livelihoods program including assessment, career guidance, Capacity building and coaching. The position holder will also be responsible for regular monitoring of implementation. S/he will play a key role in leading the livelihoods team to achieve the project targets with the agreed quality including the full process of selection of beneficiaries, preparing and delivering of the essential skills training, coaching, technical trainings needed.


Projects Scope:


The RDPP project is a comprehensive initiative aimed at supporting Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC) in Greater Cairo, Egypt. The project focuses on two main pathways: enhancing protection and inclusion for UASC through child protection services, education, and mental health support, and increasing their resilience and self-relianceby providing vocational training and livelihood opportunities. Key activities include providing comprehensive child protection case management services, such emergency cash transfers, referrals, and ongoing support for 900 UASC, Additionally, the project will deliver mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) to 500 UASC and their caregivers. The project also focuses on enhancing resilience and self-reliance through vocational skills trainings for 300 youth aged 17-21, including conditional cash transfers for six months to support their transition into adulthood. The initiative also includes establishing a mentorship and coaching network, providing individualized support to at least 250 youth in their journey toward employment or entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the project will organize advocacy efforts to promote the socio-economic inclusion of refugees and vulnerable migrants within the local community. These activities aim to equip UASC with the skills, resources, and support needed to successfully transition into adulthood and contribute to their communities. 
Livelihoods Cycle includes:
a) Identification through vulnerability and Viability assessment,


b) Capacity building package including Life skills for Success, Livelihood Capacity building based on the chosen track (Self-employment: business training or Wage-employment: Job hunting training or freelancing track: client acquisition)


c) Vocational or Technical training based on the need for the chosen livelihoods track


d) Matching livelihoods opportunities (Seed fund to start a business or toolkit to freelance, match with employer and/or apprenticeship for wage-employment.


e) Coaching and follow-up and market linkage to support sustainability.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:


Operations Planning and Implementation Project Implementation: 


• Support the livelihood officer in the planning of the life skills and livelihood activities; and lead on the daily follow up on the implementation.


• Participate and lead the livelihoods coaches and community mentors on provision of identification and career guidance sessions.


• S/he will deliver and lead the operations of the trainings that will be held to the livelihood’s participants such as: (business skills – employability skills – financial literacy- Client acquisition, etc) 


• Lead on the outreach activities related with life skills and livelihoods activities. 


• Play a key role in the seed fund and cash distribution process. 


• Lead on identifying and conducting the technical/vocational training needs for the livelihood’s participants through services providers 


• Provide coaching and mentorship for participants through all the component activities. 


• Support the Livelihoods Officer to provide Supervision and technical support to livelihoods team for quality implementation of the activities.


• Ensure that all activities are implemented in line with Save the Children’s policies and procedures and adhering to donor requirements and guidelines.


Documentation and reporting:


• Ensure information is captured accurately on our project data base.


• Ensure that filing system is in place and maintain up-to-date, well-organized and accurate case files and records. 


• Prepare monthly field activities and achievements reports. 


• Lead on the MEAL activities in the component in coordination with the MEAL unit. 


In case of Emergency: 


• Promote children's rights, contributing to their well-being and protection in times of emergencies, guided by humanitarian principles and code of conduct. 


• During emergencies, he/she should act in a way that facilitates SCI’s response to emergencies, giving priority to all assigned. 


• Be prepared to support SCI interventions in response to emergencies and show needed flexibility.

QUALIFICATIONS


· Bachelor’s level degree in a relevant subject (Business Administration, PR or equivalent field experience).


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in livelihoods projects (Understanding livelihoods context in Egypt with special focus on refugees). 
  • Experience Leading community staff.
  • Good knowledge of computer programs (Excel, Spreadsheets, accounting programs, etc).
  • Flexibility, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and set priorities;
  • Good knowledge of child safeguarding will be an added advantage; and Commitment to Save the Children values.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS


• Ability to deliver training and critically think about the materials’ content and contextualization to the targeted beneficiary. 


• Ability to network, follow-up and advocate with different service providers. 


• Ability to speak with participants' one on one or to large groups. 


• Ability to prepare flowcharts, schedules and step-by-step action plans. 


• Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) and good in English is required. 


• Commitment to SCI values and Child Safeguarding policy.
