TITLE: Education Coordinator
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Cairo Area/Operation LOCATION: Greater Cairo area, Egypt
GRADE: 5

CONTRACT LENGTH:


1 year with possible extension based on performance.



CHILD SAFEGUARDING:


Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people eitherfrequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.



ROLE PURPOSE:


The Education Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the educational classes and activities with Community Learning Centers. This educational activity will aim to promote and facilitate access to quality and safe educational opportunities for the targeted Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC), and adolescents in Giza. He/ She will be responsible for leading a team of community facilitators and a Field assistant under the supervision of the education officer to implement educational interventions based on the beneficiaries’ educational needs. Besides, he/she will be conducting regular observation and monitoring visits to the educational classes and activities taking place in the targeted refugee community schools or public schools in Giza.


Projects Scope:


This project aims to enhance the well-being, protection, Education, and socio-economic self-reliance of Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC) in Greater Cairo, Egypt, by addressing urgent protection needs, providing access to education, mental health support, and vocational training, the action seeks to empower UASC to transition safely into adulthood and achieve economic independence. Aligned with the EU agenda on Durable Solutions, the project collaborates with local authorities to integrate refugees into national systems, fostering resilience among both refugees and host communities.



SCOPE OF ROLE:


Reports to: Education Officer


Staff reporting to this post: 6 Education Facilitators, and 1 field assistant.



KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY


Project Implementation


· Support in planning, implementing reporting, and documenting the educational activities of the project Accelerated Education Programs, Language Enhancing Programs, bridging program Classes.


· Coordinate assessment activities to assess UASC, and adolescent’s needs and abilities to support in designing a tailored content that meet their educational needs.


· Follow up on the day-to-day operation to ensure the delivery of quality educational classes and activities including financial and non-financial support i.e distributing transportation allowances and school meals.


· Coordinate activities with RCS and relevant stakeholders to provide safe, inclusive, and enabling learning environments.


· Conduct regular observation and monitoring visits to the educational activities using relevant assessment tools.


· Assist in providing training, coaching and technical support to build the capacities of Education Facilitators and RCS ’ staff to provide quality teaching.


· Maintain the education component’s comprehensive database of the related educational activities.


· Ensure participation of UASC in their education and support the establishment of child safeguarding and accountability mechanisms inside the learning centers.


· Support in RCS teachers and partner NGO staff on Special Needs Action Pack training. (SNAP)



· Ensure that project’s activities are implemented in line with SCI’s policies and procedures and adhering to donor requirements and guidelines.


· Coordinate with UNHCR, and other partners, and SCI Projects to include unaccompanied and separated children in getting education grants and other services.


· Maintain close communication with other components, and projects to ensure effective coordination across the different refugees and migrants projects.


Reporting and documentation


· Draft monthly and regular field reports to the education officer.


· Document the educational activities, operational work processes and success stories.


· Regularly update the project officer with progress, obstacles, and developments.


· Support in writing of regular and ad hoc reports as relates to the education sector.


General:


· Demonstrate good example in relation to Save the Children policies and practice with respect to the safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS


· Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Sciences, or relevant development/management Studies


· Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in project implementation in the development/humanitarian field with a reputable NGO in Egypt.



EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS


· Highly familiar with the refugees and migrant’s context in Egypt, is a must.


· Previous experience in the education field is required.


· Proven knowledge and skills in education activities’ planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.


· Proven successful experience in team management.


· Highly developed interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills.


· Good training and facilitation skills.


· Strong networking, leadership, and problem-solving skills.


· Fluency in English, and Arabic. (spoken and written).


· Very good at using the internet, MS Office, Email, and spreadsheets.


· Commitment to Save the Children values, and Child Safeguarding policy



Preferably


· Experience in working with UASC, youth, and adolescents.


· Experience in implementing similar educational interventions to the targeted group.


· Experience with using technology in education.
