Platform Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Platform Engineer to support the development, deployment, and operation of our data-driven dashboard and reporting platform. This role is critical in building and maintaining the foundational systems that enable scalable, secure, and reliable development and deployment across backend, frontend, and data engineering teams.

The Platform Engineer will collaborate closely with SRE, DevOps, Data Engineers, Frontend/Backend Developers, and Architects to ensure seamless integration between cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring, micro services and operational workflows. You'll focus on automating environments, improving developer experience, and enabling the team to deliver value quickly and reliably.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain the development, staging, and production platforms used by the engineering teams.
  
• Collaborate with the Architecture team to design and implement scalable, cloud-native solutions.
  
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools for repeatable infrastructure deployments.
  
• Ensure platforms support data visualization, dashboards, APIs, and backend integrations.
  

• Create tools and services that enhance developer productivity and improve CI/CD pipelines.
  
• Automate environment setup, testing, deployments, and configuration management.
  
• Optimize platform for cost-efficiency, performance, and security.
  

• Integrate monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.).
  
• Work with SRE/DevOps to maintain platform uptime and performance targets.
  
• Support incident management, root cause analysis, and post-mortem documentation when needed.
  

• Act as the technical bridge between developers, DevOps, and data engineers, ensuring platform capabilities support business needs.
  
• Support the Data Engineering team in building pipelines from the data lakehouse to the visualization layer.
  
• Help the Frontend/Data Visualization team access, transform, and present data reliably and securely.
  

• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., SOC2, GDPR) where applicable.
  
• Collaborate on policies for API management, data access, and secrets handling.
  

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of platform architecture, processes, and tools.
  

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or any related field.
  
• 5+ years of experience in a Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure role.
  
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred, or CloudFormation).
  
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration platforms.
  
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline creation and optimization (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
  
• Familiarity with PHP/Laravel backends and React.js frontends preferred.
  
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Bash, Python, or Go.
  
• Experience integrating and supporting data pipelines, APIs, and microservices.
  
• Solid understanding of networking, DNS, load balancing, and security best practices.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting data lakehouses, big data pipelines, or analytics platforms.
  
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools like Prometheus, Datadog, New Relic.
  
• Exposure to reporting libraries, dashboard platforms, or visualization frameworks.
  
• Experience with API management and securing third-party integrations.
  
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning, caching strategies, and CDN integration.
