POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Occupational Health (OH) Advisor is responsible for providing specialized input, support and guidance on OH management systems compliance during construction and testing to ensure the risks and mitigation measures for OH protection is suitable and sufficient for all staff engaged.


The Occupational Health Advisor provides direct interface with the Worley OHS Team and the Customer, by request, and assists in training of Customer’s staff on OH agents, the hazards they pose to health, monitoring techniques, instrumentation and protective measures.


Position is located at El Dabaa site, North Coast, Egypt.


SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Contributes to the development and implementation of relevant systems and procedures and performs work in accordance with Worley internal processes and procedures.
  • Completes reports of work performed accurately and on time.
  • Reviews and provides detailed comments related to OH in the Customer procedures and manuals, and other OHS management system documents.
  • Provides analysis and recommendations for construction OH agents and exposure limits to ensure that the Customer is alerted to OH issues in construction according to international and local codes, regulation and standards.
  • Reviews EPC Contractor proposals for enhancement to the OH program to ensure applicability and validity, providing the highest level of advice to the Customer on OH issues.
  • Ensures that issues that challenge adherence to regulations and requirements related to OH are highlighted, reported to the OHS Manager, and to the Customer.
  • Ensures compliance with guiding documents regulating the control and coordination of activities to ensure OH, nuclear safety and industrial safety at the industrial facility site.
  • Organizes and conducts oversight and inspection activities to ensure implementation of the rules for ensuring OH at the industrial facility site.
  • Is fluent in the field of OH within both the construction industry and the nuclear industry in particular.
  • Contributes to the review and development of the necessary documentation regulating OH and compliance with applicable norms and programs.
  • Coordinates and analyzes the materials used in construction, their safe usage and associated OH measures at the industrial facility.
  • Reviews and/or participates in OH analysis updates.
  • Reviews, comments and prepares inspection reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health or relevant
  • Strong technical skills; 8+ years of experience in occupational health practice on mega projects, within large energy corporations or, ideally in nuclear power stations
  • Experience of Occupational Health within an Operations environment
  • Fluency in the Codes and Standards pertaining to Occupational Health, ideally those of the ARE.
  • Recognized as having a specialized depth or breadth of expertise.
  • Strong report writing skills.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:


  • Ability to analyze, communicate, influence and persuade.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, understanding of Russian is a plus.
  • Ability to work and interact with multidiscipline and multicultural teams.
  • Positive outlook and collaborative approach with all stakeholders
  • Ability to work flexibly to achieve required deadlines in conjunction with ad hoc requests. 
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure a professional and accurate output.
  • Operates in a professional and confidential manner at all times.
  • Maintains good organizational skills.
