Job Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Data Migration Consultant/Solution Architect to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of proven experience in data migration, particularly with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O). This is a critical role in leading and managing large-scale data migration initiatives from on-premises D365 to D365 cloud, ensuring the migration process is efficient, data integrity is maintained, and business goals are achieved.
This role will require in-depth technical expertise in D365 F&O, data migration tools, advanced ETL processes, and cloud-based solutions, with a primary focus on ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely migration. You will lead migration strategy, data mapping, integration, and validation, while mentoring and guiding a team of professionals through the migration lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead End-to-End Data Migration Projects:
- Manage the entire data migration lifecycle for complex D365 Finance and Operations projects, from initial data assessment and planning to successful go-live.
- Oversee multiple migration phases, coordinating the activities of project teams and ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on requirements, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Ensure that data migration is completed on time, within scope, and meets all business and technical objectives.
Define and Develop Data Migration Strategies:
- Design, document, and implement detailed migration strategies for moving data from legacy systems and D365 on-premises to D365 cloud environments.
- Create migration roadmaps, outline dependencies, and identify potential risks. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and avoid issues during migration.
- Conduct data profiling and cleansing to prepare data for migration and ensure that only relevant, high-quality data is moved.
Data Mapping and Transformation:
- Lead and manage the data mapping process, ensuring accurate and effective transformation of data from source systems (on-premises D365, legacy systems) to the target cloud environment (D365 Cloud).
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand key data elements and define transformation rules that align with organizational objectives.
- Apply complex business logic, accounting rules, and transformation procedures to ensure data integrity post-migration.
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Processes:
- Work with ETL partner to Design, implement, and optimize ETL processes using data migration platforms.
- Collaborate with developers and database administrators to ensure seamless integration of ETL workflows with D365 F&O.
Ensure Data Quality, Integrity, and Reconciliation:
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data throughout the migration process by applying rigorous data validation and quality assurance procedures.
- Develop and execute comprehensive data reconciliation strategies post-migration to ensure that data in the cloud system matches expectations and is error-free.
- Conduct data validation and transformation checks at every stage of the migration to Provide Expert Guidance and Leadership:
- Provide technical leadership to the project team, including data migration consultants, business analysts, developers, and DBAs.
- Mentor junior team members and provide hands-on technical guidance for troubleshooting, problem-solving, and ensuring successful project execution.
- Lead discussions on key design decisions and promote best practices within the team and across the organization.
Risk Management, Troubleshooting, and Issue Resolution:
- Identify potential migration risks early in the project and implement corrective actions to mitigate issues before they affect project delivery.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts during migration to resolve data integrity issues, integration challenges, and performance bottlenecks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in data migration for enterprise applications, with specific expertise in D365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O).
- Proven track record in migrating data from D365 on-premises to D365 cloud, managing complex migration projects, and implementing solutions for large-scale businesses.
- Hands-on experience migrating data from other legacy enterprise systems to cloud environments.
- Technical Expertise:
- Knowledge of ETL tools and methodologies
- Expertise in SQL, data modelling, and data architecture.
- Proficiency in using data migration tools such as Scribe, Informatica, Boomi, or similar platforms to migrate data to D365 Cloud.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O architecture, including knowledge of both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Data Governance and Quality Management:
- Strong understanding of data governance, data security, and compliance frameworks for migrating sensitive financial and operational data.
- Experience implementing data quality management processes, including data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.
