Purpose:

The Turbine Island (TI) and Balance of Plant (BOP) Mechanical Engineering Lead is responsible for leading the mechanical engineering function of Worley personnel and subcontractors on a nuclear project, providing direct interface with the Customer and assisting in the training of Customers’ engineering and technical staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Organizes and leads Worley Mechanical Engineering team to help the Customer ensure the project is effectively and technically developed to meet the contract and standards requirements, local and international codes, timeline and budget during all project phases – design, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Represents Mechanical Engineering at internal & external meetings on the project.
• Ensures Worley Mechanical Engineering systems and procedures are developed and rolled out for the project and work is performed in accordance with Worley internal processes and standards.
• Reports on project technical scope performance against the baseline plan.
• Responsible for ensuring that no technical changes are implemented without prior approval as per EPC contract procedure and regulatory requirements. 
• Ensures that the Worley technical team and any third-party subcontractors adhere to the overall project execution plan and project quality plan. 
• Ensures that all identified Worley subcontractors are suitably pre-qualified for delivery of the project. 
• Reviews technical documents (Basic Design, Detailed Design) and calculations pertaining to vendor design.
• Review the PSAR and FSAR for compliance with the mechanical codes and standards. 
• Monitors construction of NPP’s and associated systems; develops comments pertaining to non-compliance with design.
• Reviews as-built design drawings and modification of mechanical systems.
• Reviews, comments and prepares drafts of client correspondence pertaining to mechanical systems and processes.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree beneficial) in Mechanical, Piping or Process Engineering.
• Nuclear power industry related experience is preferred.
• Strong technical skills; 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering on large scale projects and management of multi-cultural teams.
• Excellent report writing skills.
